Seat cowl - cosmetically speaking

Am I the only one who thinks the Thruxton looks better without the seat cowl if you keep the stock fender installed? OTOH, I think that the seat cowl is a must if you install a FEK.

Thoughts?

but that's not to say there aren't exceptions to the rule

I think so too. The fender looks redundant because the cowl looks like a fender eliminator.

Not sure. I don't think the cowl looks right with the standard rear mudguard, but I can't say I'm a big fan of the shape of the Thruxton seat either. If I had a Thrux I would probably go for a Bonnie seat or an aftermarket one like Pepe's, and junk the cowl.

On the other hand, the cowl on and the mudguard removed, in 99% of cases that looks outstanding.

I don't see the issue. My bike has a rear fender a rack and the seat cowl and looks just fine on it. In fact I'm not a big fan of FEK's! fekin eveyone has got one

I think you end up with a damn great gap over the back wheel which looks like something just fell off the bike!

I think this looks better

This is all a personal taste thing, but I personally like the looks of your Thruxton with cowl and fender. IMO, that's vintage in appearance. I put a Thrux saddle on my T100 last summer, and will eventually purchase a cowl and have it color matched to the bike ....... that is, unless the silver factory cowl matches the silver on my bike. Hard for me to determine which silver I have on my bike. (Anyone else out there with an 02 or 03 Lucifer Orange and Silver T100 that has the paint code for the silver?)

With no fender, yeah, the cowl gives a real sporty look - but I like it with the fender too.
I probably have it on more than off [I've got a fender]. Obviously, if lugging stuff around, no cowl.

I think a Ducati Sport 1000 seat unit would look great on a Thrux... Probably expensive though

Can you easily attach a cowl to a Bonneville seat? Something I've wondered about for a long time.
