I am considering a black and white 04 T100 with only SIXTY miles on it.It has pipes and about $700 worth of chrome Triumph add ons.He wants $5900 OBO.Book value is $4500 to $5900.I have 2 expensive bikes that have depreciated $8K in the past 2 years so I just do not want another bigtime money loser. What do you think would be a real "steal" on this bike? :???:

Hi Hal,

I bought an 03 T100 completely stock with 2300 miles on it this spring for $5,750 from a dealer and I figure I got a steal. The bonus was that the original owner liked the original green and tan color so he kept his tank and fenders when he bought a new 05 and I got the new black and opal tin from the 05.

Your $5,900 is a great price and you should just go ahead and do the deal. If I'm not mistaken, you also get the 865cc engine. The pipes alone are worth probably $500.

If you want to check the "real" market price, there's always ebay. I shopped ebay for months before buying from a dealer and I found 2 things:

1. Market prices went up when the weather got warm. Now prices may have stabilized.

2. Even though I live in the densely populated NYC metro area, the bikes that met my preferences were always out of my local area - which meant shipping charges and other hassles.

Bottom line: buy it now and ride it today!

Since you're buying used, you'll probably experience less depreciation than you did on your expensive bikes (I assume the beemer and the speedy3 were purchased new).

Pete

When I bought my Bonnie, I made a list of what add-ons, I would add if I bought a new bike and made all the mods. This basically was TORs, Center-stand and Tach.

Any mods other than those (such as $700 in Chrome) was irrelevant. It may have been worth it to the guy who put it one, but if I didn't "really want it", it did not change the value of the bike to me.

If you buy out of state, plan on $550 shipping charges.

If you have found an '04 T100 with basically no miles, and the guy want s $5900, it sounds like a really good deal to me. A quick glance at eBay will show you that rarely do new Bonnies come up for bid, and when they do, $6k is basically where they start around reserves.

Make the leap, you won't regret it.

Thanks guys for all your kind help.I need to find out if the 04 T100 has the 865cc mill.I'll let you know what happens. Since the stroke is the same on the 790/865 it would not be too diificult to install the larger pistons. The bike is 150 miles away and I have a trailer so no shipping-mebbe $50 in gas.

I bought a used 04 Black/White T100 with 4K miles. Had Queen/King seat, grab rail, centre stand, summer windscreen, leather bags. Options alone were over $1700. I got the bike for $6700...a good deal I think.

Oh, and remember bikes aren't "investments". They are meant for mostly entertainment and not to make you money. Most people lose money on m'cycles.

far as i know the 865cc engine came out in 05'. At least i know for a fact the speedmaster had the 790cc in 04' and the 865cc in 05'. So i assume the engine debuted in 05'. Or did it come out on the T100 before the sm?
