As a new owner of a Bonneville T100 I am curious as to how the choke is supposed to function. Upon cold starting the bike is not the choke supposed to cause the engine to fast idle??? At this point with the choke on my bike starts easily but does not fast idle. Does anyone have any guidance on choke assmbly adjustment??
I appreciate the help.

Give us a little more info: What year T-100? Did you buy it new or used. Any mods to it, if so list them. Where do you live--this gives us an idea of Wx conditions.
I'm not sure "choke assembly adjustment" is going to be of benefit--it's a pretty simple assembly and should be functioning properly.
When my '03 T-100 was stock, it was much more "touchy" on my use of the choke than it is since doing mods to the exhaust and intake with corresponding jetting changes. If I remember correctly, when stock and during the hot summer months, I couldn't put the choke on full to start the engine when cold without problems.

pweitz,

The choke on the Bonneville usually works better if you don't pull it out all the way. Try 3/4 and don't use any throttle. After it starts the idle should speed up, at that point keep putting the choke back in till you don't need it then push it all the way in.

The bike that I bought is new and now has 800+ miles on it. I am located in Wichita, Kansas, so it is nice and warm and as a result the engine needs little choke to start. I have pulled the choke out all the way and there is no increase in idle speed. I will try pulling the choke out half way and see if that makes a difference.

I pull it out all the way until it starts.
Then I push it in a little and put on my kit.
Then I drive away and as soon as I'm up to speed, I push it in all the way.
