extending headlites

No, not a sexual reference. That's a different thread. But, on a different thread there was a reference to extending headlights on a speedmaster. Has anyone done this to a bonneville? If so how does it look - post pics pls. I'm not sure how it would look - possibly good because it would allow the light housing to be viewed when riding - the classic view I miss (blocked by the triumph speedo and tach). But it could look a bit freakish too? I know there are other solutions - remove the speedo, tach etc, minis, flat brackets, but I just invested in the tach addition and am not about to remove it. yet anyway.

How about something like this, using your stock gauges + putting the idiot lights inside the headlight - just like the old bikes...?

This gets rid of the guage cluster. I'm working on where to put the tach.

. . . Definitely, a view of the headlight is how it should be. I used to really dislike the stock mirrors poking out, got rid of them, then the pokey rear light, got rid of that, now it's the instrument cluster that must go perhaps.

But, what about simply putting the headlight on longer brackets so it can be seen past the instruments - - has this been done?

It's a Chinese CJ750 Ural copy that I got from here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CJ750...item1c0e26d1f4
Several different styles to choose from, black is available. It's different to a Ural, speedo hole is smaller etc. The speedo is an 80's Sportster case with the stock Triumph mechanism and face modified (a.k.a. hacked where nobody can see) to fit.The stock Bonnie headlamp lens etc is a straight swop. Replaced the keyhole cover with a clock, drilled 2 extra holes to accomadate the idiot lights.
You have to play with the fork ears to get the shell at the right hight to see the speedo, now I have it figured I have some Thruxton items to fit and clean it up a bit.
