Question for CA riders Re:AI

Does anyone know about any proposed emissions inspections on motorcycles coming up? I was considering air injection removal and wonder whether it will come back to bite me in the future.

Last I heard it was put down due to CA budget concerns and little support.

Do you have some newer info?

Cheers,
BLIGHT

This was discussed about a year ago - IIRC, the state was going to require emissions control testing that would have wreaked havoc with mofidied bikes, but then at some point the proposed legislation was dropped as impractical.

Hopefully, given that someone pushed this bad idea forward and failed, they'll move on to trying to over-regulate some other aspect of our lives. But on this subject I think we're safe for the time being.

Thanks for the input guys - I was just covering my bases. Here in the nanny-state land of excess legislation and rules, I am always wary of whats coming.

Poo poo

As long as it is in our Governor's best interest. I wouldn't worry about emissions laws for bikes. I saw Arnold at the rock store on his Harley and I doubt very seriously that he had stock pipes and emissions. He will do what suits him best just like the rest of them. Just sayin

Good news cuz that thing has gotta go.. As a novice rider the jumpiness comin off closed throttle scares me. I lost control of my bike a few days after got it. hit a curb and topsided. Im sure my lack of skill had a lot to do with it, but I cannot help but wonder, if that sudden excelleration didnt play a part in it. I take a lot of street corners on my bike. Seems like I have to be too careful with the throttle.

One technique you can use to alleviate snatchiness when cornering at low speed is to use the clutch. This will allow you to raise the engine speed slightly above idle, & use of the clutch will give you a smooth transition.

if memory serves...it was written by some JO in Santa Monica. The bill made it as far as a committee or maybe the floor...but died shortly there-after.
