The Fonz is a fake!

Henry Winkler was on breakfast tv this morning, the presenter asked him about the Harley he used to ride in the series. Turns out he could not ride at all. They used to tow him behind a vehicle with the bike fixed to a plank of wood.

It's a bit like finding out there is no Santa.

Henry Winkler has confessed that for years; this is far from ground breaking news. I saw him in an interview once where he claimed that he couldn't even stand motorcycles...happy days was a job and his character was a biker so he had to do his job...go figure; it's hollywood.

Always thought that was a Triumph he rode (or rather, didn't ride).

They show him in various pics with a Triumph and a knucklehead I think.

I apologize Slinky; my post probably came out harsher than what I intended. You could probably could youtube it if you are interested but he was deathly afraid of motorcycles. They actually had him try riding at first and he had a few crashes...then they attached the bike to that harness-whatever thing. Again...sorry if my first post came across harsh.

That's OK - I didn't know that either. Though I'm not so shocked - guy always seemed to be on the happy side... Wait...Happy Days side.

Hey no problem he was publicising dyslexia, he has suffered all his life, it seems he can't tell left from right and that's why he could not ride.

In one of the intros to the show, they have him riding a motorcycle with a silly grin on his face. What they don't show is that he crashed shortly thereafter, because he had no idea how to operate a motorcycle.

BTW, Roger Moore had a problem playing James Bond because he had a phobia about guns and his hand shook when he had to use one, and Daniel Craig couldn't drive the Aston Martin in Casino Royale because he didn't know how to use a stick shift. Sad when you find out your cinematic heroes have feet of clay.
