I'm happy about the fact my new speedmaster doesn't pop at all. But i'm also curious as to why i keep reading how without removing the AI everyone says thier bike pops. I don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but i'm cusious as to why mine doesn't. Could it be the dealer and how well he tunes it upon setup of a new bike? The service guy at my dealer was adament that his store was the best as service goes and even told me to call triumph and ask who they recommend most highly if i didn't believe him. Could it be that this dealer has a service dept that really knows thier stuff, or did i just get lucky? Or maybe the latest bikes have been changed in ways to eliminate popping ?

i really want to eventually get some throaty pipes. Not loud, but loudER with good tone. But i fear the bike is tuned so well right now i'll screw it all up.

I guess it's a case of only hearing about the small percent that does and the ones that don't never mention it. Maybe....

My bike never popped with the AI installed. Seems to me that most complaints of popping are in regards to bikes with modified intake and off-road exhaust; the carbs drawing in too much fuel on the wind-down and blowing it out unburned into very hot exhaust manifold.

Mine has never popped (well, it did once when I lost a vacuum cap from the manifold), and I have been through 2 exhaust systems, removal of the airbox, and of course the removal of the air Injection system. Mine is one of the few (I guess) that doesn't idle as good as I would like--been that way from zero miles to 7700 miles now. Of course, I try my best to not allow it much chance to idle anyway. :-D
