Oldie but a goodie
Was cruising around a couple days ago when I saw a black triumph heading in the opposite direction. Only thing I could catch was the chrome and white badge on the tank, so in true form, I quickly pulled a u-turn and proceeded to chase him down.
After a couple turns and a straightaway (a cop was between us for most of the hunt believe it or not) I finally got directly behind him, a couple car lengths away. By that time, I saw him straighten up and immediately turn his head all the way around to see what was behind him, he must have a good eye for Triumphs.
I pulled up beside him at the light and the smile on his face and mine must have been priceless. My black 09 beside his black 69.
Running down the street we hit a couple lights, every time we came to a stop we were chatting it up until I finally asked if he wanted to pull over at a Timmies for a quick look. He definitely agreed and we slowly rolled down the next couple of blocks with I am sure more then a few cars waiting patiently behind as we took are time.
To sum it up, his name is Rick, very nice man , gotta be in his 60s. Told me he had not owned a motorcycle since his 75 Bonneville, and has not rode in 25 years up until he bought that bike restored 3 weeks ago for $4000!! Had 1500 miles on it, almost less then mine. Today was the first day he has been out riding "legally".
The bike was rebuilt by a gentleman I know out in Waterdown, another Rick at Highway Cycle, who works almost exclusively on BSA, Triumph and Norton. Guys in the area would surely know him, if you don't he would be a valuable person to know. I owe him big time for his generosity and patience.
All in all a great experience, his bike was awesome, the hunt was awesome, and he was a genuinely nice man, glad to have met you and your bike.
Sorry about the pictures, only had my BB on me at the time and just discovered the light settings were on flourescent, so they are kinda whitey.
