Hard to find a used Bonneville

Hi, I've been looking for a used Modern Bonneville for about three months. I live in California, so I don't have that many to choose from (importing a bike from another state sounds migraine-inducing; smog laws, etc.).

Does anyone have any leads on a nice Modern Bonnie in California? They all seem to be overpriced or over-modified (and I'm being picky about condition and color, which isn't helping). Has anyone brought a bike into California successfully? I check Craigslist, Cycle Trader and eBay everyday...with little success.

Thanks for your help!!!

Then your only other route would be calling the dealers (any of them ) and let them know what your looking for. and when such a bike is being traded in they will call you . A dealer would be your best bet .

Thanks, it's a good idea. I've talked to my semi-local dealer, who I like a lot. I should probably broaden my radius a little. There isn't much being traded right now. Maybe I should wait for the Spring.

I have exactly the opposite problem. I've tried to sell my 2003 Bonneville T100. I'm the original owner. It has low miles (3,600) and no mods, unless you count installed factory grab bar and center stand. It's never spent a day baking in the sun, and is in basically flawless condition. It starts and runs perfectly. There have been a few nibbles, but we eventually get to price. I've offered it at whatever the Kelly Bluebook (KBB.com) average retail was at the time, but folks want a bargain. A steal. An excellent machine at a price that's fair to both parties? Just not good enough. I've kept it, and enjoyed it.

What color/price are you looking for? There is a 2008 B/W with less than 1200 miles just over the hill in San Jose. He is asking $6500. Seems like a fair price.

Sounds like a really nice bike...if it has the California-required 7,500+ miles on the odometer, it might work :-)

I'm actually trying to keep it between $3K and $5K. I want peace and harmony at home :-) Thanks though...I appreciate the heads up (and maybe if you see something else down the road).

Sorry, forgot to mention color...White/Orange (favorite), Green/Gold (white, silver, etc.), Black/White or maybe BRG. In a perfect world, I really like the special addition bikes (Orange or Light Blue/Orange...but those tend to be big bucks). I could probably be talked into anything at this point.

While it might be a fair price, you can walk out of the dealer right now for a Bonneville about that same price for the basic one before tax, title, license.

My SE was $6900 before tax etc.

So to me, that's not really close to being a deal. (remember Triumph is giving $1500 cash back right now)
