2008 vs. 2009?

I am ready to pull the trigger (finally) on a bonneville T100. I have the option of purchasing new of course and getting exactly what I want (if I can find the black/white in stock) or buying a slightly used 2008 in the same color for less money. My question is this, are the changes to the 2009 worth the extra money? The differences I see are as follows:

2008: Carbs, silver engine, old style rear hub, screw in bages, smaller tank?

2009: EFI, black engine, new rear hub, stick on badges, bigger tank?

I'm not sure about the last one, but I remember reading somewhere that the tank is larger on the EFI models. I like all of the changes to the 2009 minus the badges and the warranty would be nice. However, my wallet likes the idea of saving some money for upgrades. What say you?

i just bought a '10 thruxton with the efi and absolutley love it so far...have ridden older triumphs with carbs in the past and love those as well....my advice is buy what you want which is why I went for the new one...and got the color I wanted, etc...

these differences you mention are mostly incorrect

I have a 2008. It has "new" style Hubs, glued on badges, and the same tank as the 2009's.

So the only difference between a 2008 and a 2009 T100 is the EFI

btw, if you decide to buy new, why aren't you buying a 2010? 2009's are now becoming leftovers. Don't pay msrp for a 2009. Get a 2010

I am going based on the conversation I had with him and the photos he supplied. I specifically asked him to photo the rear hub and it is the old style. As for the tank/badges I am speculating because I have yet to see the bike in person. You are right about the 2010 model. I would only buy 2009 if it was discounted. I will try to post the photos if I can figure out how.

yes you almost certainly have the old hub

the old hub design was more prone to spoke breakage

they started using new hub designs in 2008

this is the new hub as seen on my bike:

I have an 08 T-100 and it has the "New" style tank and the new hubs. As for that Black & White T-100, even if the paperwork says 08, I would call it an 07 in configuration, i.e old style tank and hubs. Maybe it was a tweener in the production transition. 07 1/2 perhaps? If you like it, grab it. Most prefer the older style tank. The spoke issue seems to have died down a bit with the later model years. I guess the biggest problem I see is the header pipes needing some TLC due to the bluing.
Carb vs. FI- eventually boils down to personal preference. FI costs more to MOD, due to the re-flash issues and electronic gadgetry required. Carbs can be a bit fiddly, but jets are cheap. Performance differences between the two are minimal. I understand that the FI models are a wee bit faster out of the box.
I didn't help at all, did I?
If it were me I'd grab the carb bike w/ the old style tank.

Old hub here throwing my two cents in - the black/white combo is spectacular.

The new gas tank is actually 2 liters smaller in capacity, due to placement of the fuel pump.

The tanks have a short range as it is.

I see a few references to new shape tanks and old shape tanks, but to my uneducated eye I don't see much difference, apart from maybe the angle.
Can anyone enlighten me?
