Future Value of Made in England Bonnies?
Now that everyone knows that that Triumph moved production to Thailand, I wonder if the Made in England 790 Bonnies will be worth more in a few years down the road.
Any one know which of the 2 countrys has the highest quality or most reliable Triumphs? Some have complained about the plastic stick on badges or decals so this might be one sign of future value.
I figure the English Triumphs bikes will hold there value better simply because they are based in England.

I think it'll always be worth more to us Triumph owners.
For those who are picky and such, it might be thge deciding factor in purchasing thier triumph.
My 04 thrux is one of the last ones made in Hinkley, so its more bragging rights and promo more than anything else.
to the Lay person, im not sure if it'll hepl the value or not, but its good to always share that info...

I think that it's Thailand, rather than Taiwan.
I really like the '03 T100's "Triumph Great Britain" engine case badge. It's a small thing, but it helps set the bike apart from later bikes that were not Hinkley made.

As a personal and professional study of the auto industry, I can't help but be somewhat bemused by manufacture in the U.K. as bragging rights, but do imagine that origins in the homeland of the brand is probably a good thing. Except for perhaps, Chinese scooters

I'm not sure it really matters to me. We are all living in a global community. Stuff is made everywhere. Even if Triumph continued to assemble the bikes in England, there would be no guarantee the parts were sourced from companies within England.
I just do not see the significance.

So if I dissemble my Bonneville and then reassemble it myself, does that mean that its made in the USA?
I fail to see the significance of where the bike was assembled when parts are sourced from all over world.

I reckon they're all the same bikes really wherever they're made, afterall it's all the same bits.

The only factor has nothing to do with the bikes. Where they are assembled is irrelevant other than the fact that a British Company really ought to be providing work for skilled British people. We have high unemployment and youth unemployment. Perhaps it would be nice if Triumph and other companies did less outsourcing. But they won't. As has been said its a global economy.

actually '07 was the last year for hinkley modern classics. my thruxton is an '07 and is a hinckley bike. in 2007 it was hit or miss regarding where the bike was made, in either thailand or england, and then in '08 i believed it was almost exclusively thailand for the modern classics. i was unaware that they were assembling bikes in taiwan now?
FWIW, after speaking to a dealer they told me that they have actually seen more warranty issues on the hinkley bikes when compared to the bikes assembled in thailand.

Don't know how much of the bike is "made" in Thailand. I understand that the engines were "made" in England and sent to Thailand for assembly along with certain other parts.
I guess I would want my bike put together by the person who wants to keep their job the most.
In anycase the idea that "Nigel" put your bike together in Hinckley is probably no more likely than "Mustafa" having put it together in Hinckley (not that theres anything wrong with that ).
Anyhoo, I will be buying the "Triumph Made In England" badge and putting it on my Thailand Bonnie .
