What this forum means to me

I've been a member for a while now and although I don't post a lot I read this forum every day. In last couple of weeks I've noticed I was more critical of people than I've ever been. Last friday after 20 years on the same job I was laid off. My boss says he has enough money to pay the bills for about 3 months & after that he'll have to close the doors. I'm an operating engineer & I work in underground construction. Hopefully we'll get some work. Yesterday a moderator had to close a thread & modify another. I was part of that & I made some dumb remarks under an ethanol thread last weak. I would like to apologize to anyone in here for any remark I wrote. I have been under some pressure for a while & I feel like I may have taken that out in bad remarks. I can't not tell you what a wealth of information this forum has been to me. Many of you have done such hard work so guys like me can go out and work, ride & enjoy are Triumphs. Reading this forum is truly a highlight of my day and I want to say thank you to all of you who share your experiences here- Tyler

Firstly, that sucks that you have been laid off, and I am very sorry to hear it.

Secondly - the remarks bit - don't worry about it. You have been a valuable poster for a long while, keep doing it.

Tough break regarding your job loss. I was laid off back in April, and have only recently found work. During that time, I wasn't thinking straight, and probably said things that I now regret. Don't be too hard on yourself, and keep your chin up. Remember, you've always got your Triumph!

So sorry to hear about the lay off. Too much of that here in my neighborhood.

On the count of three... group hug.

Good luck to you.

Sorry to hear about the job...I lost mine in May and I am still looking.

There is so much stress and anxiety involved with losing your income. It sucks.

Best of luck on the job front.

At least now you have plenty of time to ride, and if it is too cold to ride, you can clean, or wrench, or post up here on RatNet.

A job loss is no fun at all - been there a couple of times so I know what it's like, keep positive if you can, remember that the pendulum swings so things will change & get better - nothing's forever neither good times or bad.

A forum like this might help if you need to get stuff off your chest & you'd rather not say things to family & neighbours.

Good luck with job hunting, keep riding & keep your chin up!

Tyler,

Two things to ponder at this point:

1.) Think of the many circumstances in your past where you thought "I'll never get past this", or "This is it... I'm through", and realise that you DID get through them, and with flying colors. I believe is was once said "What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger", or something like that. Take this situation as an opportunity to change, improve, and move forward to new, and better experiences. It WILL happen.

2.) I just read some of your very recent 'past' posts, and to my perspective, you weren't 100% at fault for any percieved nasti-ness. Although it is often said that "there is no such thing as a stupid question", to which we all agree... there are stupid statements, and you responded as many on this forum would have.

Keep your chin up, things will work out.

Bob

Like others - I would like to say sorry to hear about job problem.
I do understand your many feelings... worked 27 years myself for the same company (lot of years similar to yourself)... anyway they pulled out of UK/ closed company and my job gone July this year.
First time i've experienced anything like this... an experience we could do without... but as others have posted... need to keep our spirits up... it will get better/ will come right.
