Fuel injected Bonnies vs. carburated Bonnie

I was thinkling about getting a late 2007 carburated Bonnieville since there are a couple used ones for sale around here. How are the new fuel injected Bonnevilles in comparison to the older carburated versions? Any problems with the batteries dying? I read in a magziane that some new Bonnevilleville owners had problems with them not starting and a possible problem with batteries improperly charged by the dealer.

I've had both and it is not a difference maker to me. The Bonnie is great both ways. If you are happy with the deal on a carb bike, go for it. Jets are easy to swap if needed.

I've never heard of the battery issue. I haven't ridden an EFI bonnie, but the carb'd ones are great. I'm be more inclined to find a nice used carb'd bonnie for a smokin' deal than pay more $$$ for an EFI model.

Quite happy with my '07 "carby," which also was had for a screaming deal with a paltry 2400 miles on it last year

Carbs fit the overall retro theme and there are lots of aftermarket performance parts. EFI is the way of the future so enjoy carbs while you can and freak out your grandkids when you tell them you once rode a 'carbed' motorcycle....

Grandkids wont know what a fuel burning bike is let alone a carbed one.....everything will be electric or fuel cells in the not so distant future.

"Mods are easier on a carby"? don't agree.

Maybe "modifying" your carb jets all day long is what you mean...you can modify the efi model just as well if not more then a carb and probably way easier with way more precision too.

Stock, the FI bikes feel like they have a bit more power, but the throttle response does not feel as smooth. The bikes I rode felt jumpy at low rpm. I bought a carb'd bike simply because it was available and much cheaper being used and all. I have no regrets. Its a little harder to start when 40 degrees outside, but I just kinda decided that I didnt want to ride when it was that cold anyway. The bike I bought has pipes, NARK, rejet, and AI removal and feels considerably stronger than the stock EFI bikes. Buy the bike you like and don't worry about the fuel delivery system too much.

Talking Carbs V EFI..

I'm a carby man, have been ever since I started riding a long time ago.

But..... let me say that this new EFI Bonny is winning me over. Once you dump the AI from the bike, it becomes like a carbed model in it's power delivery, except for one important difference ....

It's better!...

Yep, I'm believing that this new EFI stuff is actually better than the old re-jetting. It's cleaner, more efficient, and works better overall. Power delivery is crisp and spot-on at any throttle opening, the ECM with it's sensors takes care of all the mixtures at any elevation and temperature and you don't have to do anything except ... ride.

My days of fiddling with carb jets and fracking around with mixtures are ... o v e r .

And ... you know what?

I'm not missing it, and i'm not going back.
