Choppers?

I'll start saying I can't wait to read about how much some of you hate choppers...
But given the enormous popularity of the Triumph-based choppers back in the day, I'm having a hard time finding anyone who builds them nowadays, particularly using the newer twins from Americas/Speedmasters or Bonnevilles. I'm looking into making a long-term project of one myself - hardtail, maybe a springer front end, with modern reliability. Any ideas? I've found a few places (choppahead.com, for instance) that build them and supply some parts, but mostly they concentrate on pre-Hinckley engines. I'm looking for ideas. I've seen pics of a couple and seen a couple in person, but not many.
Any help out there?

Lowbrow Customs has a hard tail and some other stuff..and Tyler is a great guy to boot. Try the Jockey Journal board for chopper stuff...there's more of an audience for 'em. I've seen a few over there, as well as some company with a couple when I went to the Metrolina Fair Grounds in Charlotte a year of so ago. Sorry, cant remember who they were built by, though.

And I love a chopper done right.

I'm tempted to suggest a shrink for you to figure out this "problem" you have, but I won't.
If you decide to put ape hangers on your Chopper please make sure you REALLY beef up the bars and mounts since I have seen a few break and the resulting crash was not nice.
I hate seeing even a chopper crash and a fellow rider get hurt...
One question, have you ever riden a chopper?
And if so did you like the way it rode and handeled?

Im on the same path as you..
if you are having a hard time getting help in the states were you have alot of builders then im gonna struggle here in Norway... its only one thing to do..
builld it myselfe!
I bought a wrecked Scrambler yesterday its a -06 with only 1450 miles on it...
have a lot of ideas but havent decided on all the details yet...
this is not much help... and i know we dont have alot of builders to choose from..
but how hard can it be? its just some metal tubing and a big piece of sweet triumph engine =)

cant wait to get started...

good luck (love chopper/bobber)

Thats a schweet machine! Just to put a bug in your ear though, if you simply hardtail vs changing out the whole frame, you can usuually get by leaving it titled as a Bonnie, otherwise you've gotta have it redone as Special construction (or at least in VA) and that means alot of BS communist rules and laws get tacked to it...plus insurance is hard to find.

Hate choppers? I ask you...how many "haters" out there have ever ridden one? I met a guy at the VBMC rally this year who told me how cool it looked, but didnt want the brutal ride....so I let him take Bonnie for a spin and it absolutely changed his view, now hes gonna order one of our hardtails when the weather gets cold!

I hate those tacky, overdone choppers, done with no taste whatsoever. (And no, I haven't ridden one :))
But some of those well executed bobbers looks like a real blast to ride! Wouldn't mind having one in the stable

Couldn't find any images but here's a quick video of the OCC Triumph from season 6. One of the nicest bikes they've built.
do you know which episode it is?
the best looking occ bike...

never mind.... I found it.. episode 6 :)

occ sucks.
i agree 99.9%....a bunch of fat, stupid, cavemen, gorillatype of people..
but you must give them that they make a sort of bikes that people with no taste like... (sorry if i offended anyone)
but the triumph projekt showed that they can build something that is
nice to look at.... in my opinon :)

www.jockeyjournal.com is the sh!t when it comes to nice bikes!
I remember the first time i lokked at the bobber thread... ohh my...
