I'm looking at the colors on the 05 speedmasters and if and when i buy one i'm wondering how likely it would be to trade with someone or buy one in the color i like. I don't care for any of the 05 colors, but i absolutly love the 04 yellow. has anyone ever bought a triumph and traded someone for the color they wanted or bought a new tank. Was it easy to find someone to trade? How much does a new one go for and can they still be ordered in older colors? Maynbe the dealer could order a yellow fo a upcharge for me? Any thoughts?
I literally love that yellow infinatly more than black or red or blue neon for 05.

I just recently went throught the problem of finding a tank for my TBA. Turns out, its insanely easy. Just start calling dealerships and asking if they have done custom paint on any speemasters and if they have, they might just have a tank waiting to go on your bike. The first one i called sold me a blue speedy tank for 250, which i find to be a bargain of sorts. Im sure after about 4 or five phone calls, you can find something used.

Unless you are feeling rich used woudl be the way to go. They come up on ebay quite frequently too.

That could happen, but i doubt it would be as easy as it was for you especially considering the color i want is on last years model. I think you probably just got lucky.
I was thinking that considering the endless ways the internet has changed our lives in ways like this, i'm suprised there aren't sites that have sections devoted to trading tanks for color "correction". I would imagine that plenty of people who buy a triumph have to settle for a color they don't care for due to the selection during the year they bought. I'm sure there are 04 owners who would prefer 05's blue or red over thiers. Just seems a page devoted to this could be a huge help for those like me who are insanely desirous of a color thats no longer available to them !

Well, i may have got lucky here. I emailed a bunch of dealers and one said he can get me a 05 with a yellow tank in the deal ! I'm waiting till they open to call him, but i gotta figure he's gonna try and nail me for a very high $. Maybe list price plus the cost of the tank. If it's like that i'll still be looking for a tank trade or an 04 bike. But if he offers a good deal even with the tank swap i'll be a speedmaster owner very soon.
EDIT: shoulda known better. He wanted close to list plus $600+ for the tank. Back to the drawing board.......er, cycle trader. Either a used 04' or a tank swap.

I was very unopptimistic myself, untill I actually talked to a dealer. I found three tanks from the three dealers i contacted. Just make some calls, there are 4 bizillion triumph dealers in this country, and they all can ship.

It's not that i can't find one. The dealers can still order them from triumph. But they're over 600 bucks new, and i've been emailing and calling dealers with no luck other than to tell me i gotta pay 6 bills. I was hoping there might be a better solution such as someone with one in stock already who would be willing to swap it for the tank on the bike i buy or something along those line. but none yet has had a solution other than to order the tank at 6 bills.

You should be able to get it professionaly painted for 250 if you take it off and take it to a painter. T1
