Hey RATs, it's Friday evening!!

Just a reminder to be careful out there. I was riding home in rush hour traffic about a half hour ago, when a tire blew off a truck somewhere in front of me. I didn't see it blow, but I saw little bits of rubber and cord flying through the air several cars in front of me, then about four feet of tread came flying out from under the truck in front of me. Traffic was heavy and moving about 60 mph, so there wasn't a lot I could do, so I just planted myself and held on tight. It hit my front tire and glanced back and off my right leg. It was a pretty solid hit, but it didn't really hurt. There's a scuff on my right fork, but no damage. It was a hell of an adrenaline rush!

Have a good weekend everyone, and Happy Father's Day!!

Move to LA. The rush hour traffic here only goes about 5-10 mph.

Cliff, way to hang in there. I'll bet you toss down a few cold ones tonight! ***** trucks use retreads and they let go every so often. I was right next to a big rig once when one blew. Scared the living shi- out of me. Usually though, they make no noise at all. They simply roll off, much like a tank tread coming off. Enjoy the weekend. Dan

Close call! Glad you didn't get hurt and your bike wasn't damaged. I try to avoid I-95 and I-4 just for that reason.

Glad to hear you're OK, Clifford. You did exactly the right thing. Some adrenaline rush indeed.

Happy Father's Day to you, too. And to all you dads out there.

Thanks for the good intentions all, they're much appreciated. Somehow incidents like this leave me with a good feeling, like I ducked a bullet. Even better that I can talk about it with good folks that understand where I'm coming from.

Ya'll have a great weekend! Go ride!
