Hey Rats,
Just wanted to let you know what happened with the Thunderbike saddlebag supports I bought for my T100. Thunderbike admitted that they did not take into account that someone might mount a grabrail on their bike. So, they cannot be mounted with a grabrail installed.
They offered to take them back, which was a fair offer. I stared at them in dismay for several days then measured to see if they could be modified to fit. Then, because I'm a glutton for punishment and I was kind of cheesed-off, I bought a new hacksaw blade and a set of titanium drillbits and started cutting. After cutting and drilling, it is required that you grind away part of the welds and the rods at the top, back-end, or else there is not enough surface exposed to provide support where they bolt on to the grabrail. Anyway, the result is that they now fit my bike, but they have a couple of areas sans chrome. These areas are not visible unless you are really looking for them.
So, if you want to use the Thunderbike saddlebag supports in conjunction with a grabrail, here is what is required:
Hacksaw
Bench Grinder
Power Drill with 5/16" Titanium or Cobalt Bit
I had most of the tools so the cost to me was about $165.00. After going through this process, my recommendation is to buy some other saddlebag supports that are a close fit and modify them. There are many to choose from and almost all of them are in the $30 to $60 range. If you are crazy enough to want to spend the money and cut up some Thunderbike supports, let me know and I'll give you step-by-step instructions.
