Has anyone bought or tried a Roadstar windscreen on a Bonneville?

I'm not sure yet if I would like the look. I just found out that I have one on the way as a gift. So, happy yes I'm getting something new, but don't want it to be a waste. I could apply the money elsewhere.

I won't going 300+ miles at any one time. Doubtful therefore that it is the look or necessity that makes sense.

I have had one on my T100 since new (2 years). Its a great windshield and has saved me from wearing tens of thousands of bugs and the pain dozens of rocks thrown by cars and trucks. One hour on an interstate without a windshield will make you understand why so many bikes have them.

I think many believe they do not look as cool with a windshield on their bike. They're the guys with the bug guts all over their clothes smelling like dead fish.

I have both a Roadster screen and a Summer screen. I use the Summer screen year round. I like the looks of the Summer screen better - personal preference. The Roadster screen offers more protection and is a traditional design.

I saw a Roadster screen just went for $40 on eBay. New. :???: Quite a difference from the $300+ charged at the dealer. Perhaps these are not as hot or in demand as I originally thought.

bosoxrider,

The one on E-bay was for the screen only. It didn't have any mounting brackets or materials.

I saw that one also...

I wouldn't think the mounting bracket would hard to get for the less than the difference but I don't know. But, that's a good point.

I have a Roadster. It keeps off a lot of the wind, but it's not the height of aerodynamic efficiency, with quite a lot of turbulence coming over the top. It's fine up to 60/65 and gets a bit much after that.

I have been think of some saeng edging, but just haven't got round to it.

The chrome cross and down bars are a PITA too, with dirt getting behind. They serve no purpose as far as I see, so I removed them. The remaining hardware keeps it very rigid, and appart from the mounting holes which aren't too obvious it looks much less obtrusive. My screen has a few scuffs from the vibes of these plates/bars, so if I were you I'd try it with out from the get go and see what you think.

I'd be surprised if the other lower windscreens do any better. They're just not designed for the type of riding and position on the bike either.

My experience with windscreens, on any bike, is to have either a full screen or none at all. I had the summer screen on my Bonnie but got tired of the turbulance and took it off.

IMHO the Bonnie looks best without screens or bags though I realize this isn't always possible for all riders.
