heat shields available?

Does anyone make heat shields or chrome covers for the blued header pipes on the EFI Bonnie? I searched but the only set I saw was here and no brand is known. http://www.napaliprop.com/2008-T-100.html

I know blue pipes are typical, but it makes the bike look old to me. I'm not too keen on trying to polish this off with the various cleaners as it just comes back. Double walled aftermarket header pipes are too expensive.. Coating is possible, but it isn't "really" chrome looking.

Seems like a real business opportunity for some company to me.

I posted one of the same photos recently. I had PM'd the owner, and he had bought the shields on E-Bay, and they weren't being manufactured any longer.

I've been looking around for a set, but it doesn't look good. Here's the address of a company that puts a coating (your choice of finish) on the header pipes. Go to their Web Site and look it over - it looks interesting. The nearest dealer to me is Houston or the Dallas area.

Look here: http://jet-hot.com/

BTW, they don't list motorcycles in their catalog, but there is an article about how great they are with Triumph header pipes.

Same situation when I bought my T100. Here's a nice Lucifer Orange and Silver that was for sale on eBay in late 2005 I was interested in buying, but it was sold before I had a chance to bid.

I noticed it was equipped with heat shields, so I contacted the owner to find out about them. He had purchased them through Hermy's in PA, but thought they were no longer available. He was right ..... I contacted Hermy's and found out the shields were no longer being made.

Wow .... as Yogi B. said .... deja vu all over again!

heat shields

I like the coloring on the pipes. All the exhausts on bikes built in the '60's and 70's, even into the 80's did it. It's just part of the patina. If a guy doesn't want them to color, or show any other signs of use, I guess he could leave it as a "garage queen".

To me, my T 100 looks even more like a 1969 Bonny now that its pipes are blues.

We like to ride 'em, but I still want it to look like a garage queen.

I agree with you Dan. I ride my Bonnie and my Suzuki C50, but the C50 has very nice looking Vance& Hines exhaust that is chrome with no discoloration. Call me whacky, but I prefer that to the bluing of my Bonnie's exhaust.

What we need is one of the forum members who is a skilled fabricator, to manufacture a quality set of heat shields for the Bonnies. I would bet he or she could start a nice side business making the heat shields. I would be willing to pay any reasonable price if they were available and I bet other Triumph riders would as well.

Just my two cents....

I wish I had a metal shop

I could probably make a killing selling these things on this forum alone

I am currently getting an estimate from a machinist company in Long island that may be able to fabricate the chrome heat shields for the Bonnie. I will update this thread in a few days with whatever price they give me...

Ok, I found a skilled machine shop in Long Island who will make me the header heat shields for my Bonnie. I am going to take my bike in next week to get it measured and then they will make the blueprints for the part. If anyone is interested, there may be room for a discount if several of us want to get the heat shields made?
