Well I finally received my GL Corbin seat for my STD 05 Bonny Black, couldn’t wait to through it on the bike when to my surprise the back of the seat would not fit over the standard Triumph luggage rack braces, if Corbin had made the pan ½” wider in the back it would have slipped right on. Well I called Corbin and spoke to Chris and was basically told oh well to bad when we made the seat we didn’t take the standard Triumph luggage rack into account, no returns, no way you can use the seat though. I think this pretty well sucks, why didn’t Corbin take measurements on the original seat which allows for these accessories? Anyway if you have a luggage rack fitted I would not recommend Corbin seats, I am not giving up my Luggage rack which I love, will try and do a modification to the seat and see if I can make it fit though…

Joe, I started a major remodel of a brand new corbin seat last night I`m not sure what your brackets look like, nor how big,but the black seat pan on the corbins is pretty thick even at the edges. You can probably use a Dremmel to grind or slot the seat sides without getting into the vinyl, and it should just drape back down over the brackets.Wear a dust mask,as that stuff nasty, and goggles and a longsleeve shirt.Dont sweat the modding, and you`ll be the only corbin/Triumph racked bonnie on your block.

Rodburner, Yup you read my mind, already pulled back the vinyl, and pulled out the dremmel, looks like I just need to take off about 3/4" on each side, going to have to do some repair to the vinyl as when I initially tried to get the seat on it ripped on each side where the luggage brackets are located...

Roadglide, at least you got an answer, I e-mailed them (Corbin Customer Service) and have gotten nothing, the frame on the 05 is exactly the same as the last 4 years models, no changes there...

Well did the mods to the rear of the GL seat: Pulled rear rivets pulled back material, dremeled both sides about 3 inches wide 2 inches deep so it would clear the rack mounts restretched the material and screwed down the material with screws and large flat washers. You can see pictures of what the seat looks like on the bike at the below link. Still got no reply from Corbin and am not at all happy with them and will never order anything from them again…
