Hallo to all. I do not post messages frequently but there is something that bothers me and i would like to share it with you and listen to your opinions. Do you trust these companies that sell several parts and accessories through internet? Anyone had a bad experience? How do you deal with these situations? I have probably lost about 100 usd. I purchased some items from a well known web site, almost three months ago and i still have nt received the items i paid for. I wont reveal the name of the seller even though he has nt provided any reasons for this delay. Furthermore, the last month he doesnt even reply to my mails! :???:

I only buy things over the internet when absolutely necessary. There's just something about the "secure" claim that is almost too reassuring. With all the hackers out there, nothing is secure anymore, but, like I said, sometimes it is necessary. The are a couple of real good comanies that carry after market parts online......my suggestion to them would be to press a catalog....remember those? They are those ancient things with all the pages that you turn.
Plus, then I wouldn't get in as much trouble at work from looking at parts online...hahaha. :chug:

I always use a credit card like my American Express Blue that protects me. I never worry and buy stuff off the net weekly.

I have purchased from both BellaCorse & NewBonneville & have had nothing but satisfactory results.
I would first try to call them directly. I've had Brent @ NewBonneville return my phone messages a couple of times.
Now being that your in Greece, there may be time differences between countries to account for.
If that doesn't work. Write a letter & send it certified mail. That way you have proof of your communication.
If that fails to illicit a response, then I believe you should post a review of the vendor here. Don't necessarily have to bash, but just state the facts so that the rest of us know who to be wary of.
Good luck, Cyn-

I found this in the classics forum------------- Posted: 2004-05-26 01:39
Hey just a word of warning about Ebayer britbikeparts or British parts Chicago. I purchased an air-cleaner box for my '65' Bonneville from these guys and it was a nightmare. I payed $106.00 via Paypal two days after the auction back on March 13th. and three months and 14 days later I finally received other parts I had to talk them out of just to get something for my money. I emailed them one month after the original purchase with no reply. The second email I received the reply, "your item must have been lost in the mail, we will ship out another right away UPS." A month or more later I called them only to get "we will check on this and call you back." No reply. I called them two days later to find out they were not sure if they ever had the the part. Obviously this is why I didn't get the part in the first place! The person who supposedly owned the shop got on the phone,[acted like I was bothering him] and we finally worked out a deal for a pair of shocks instead. He said " they will be there in two days." Fourteen days and three more phone calls, I get the shocks.
One phone call when they realized they didn't have the air-box and a "how would you like to take care of this Mr. Rainey." Would have been nice. Of course just returning my phone calls, doing what they said and no fuzzy stories would have been nice too!!!!

Blacktothebonne....you could e-mail Brent at newbonneville.com or Mike at BellaCorse for specifics as opposed to a phone call. Both guys have returned my e-mails (and phone calls) promptly in the past and I have had no problems with any purchases while using a credit card. Good luck.

I have had several good experiences with the retailers who frequent this forum (Bella and New Bonnie), and several good Ebay experiences.
I am typically very impatient when ordering motorcycle stuff (I am a cash and carry type of guy). You can take steps to protect yourself (i.e. use a credit card that you know has fraud or electronic transaction dispute protections) but you can still get stiffed, or made to wait a long time if you deal with someone who has an item on backorder.
Some of the things I have done in the past when dealing with some unsavory web retailers is doing a WHOIS search on the domain, calling the administrator and trying to extract information that way. That is a last resort though.
I love dealing with online retailers that have real-time stock inventory numbers (Dennis Kirk is the best one for this). I am not sure of others, but I think that Dennis Kirk is the only one that I have seen that has real-time stock inventory numbers on the website in each item detail listing. Maybe someone else knows of retailes that have this feature?
I am a software engineer, so I have a good idea of the infratructure and effort needed to maintain a real-time inventory database available to web customers. Mike and Brent, are any of you planning on adding features like this in the future? Just a thought.

Thanx for the ideas. I must tell you that i m sure they got the money, because they mailed me a receipt. The first two weeks after purchasing i was just waiting, because i knew i should expect a reasonable delay due to the long distance (the company is in USA, i live in Europe). The third week i conducted them and they told me that their server was down and they are very sorry bla bla, and that they would mail my package the following day!! I thought, "ok, these things can happen". So, i kept on waiting for two or three weeks more. I asked them through email if there is a problem and if they could track my order. No reply. I mailed them again and again. They would nt care at all to reply. Then i used the good old fashion fishing answers technique. I told them how great site they have, how many things i would like to buy etc and i almost begged for a reply. They replied tersely that they would ask the post office (or something like that). Almost two months had already passed. After one week i asked them if they had any news. They did nt reply. I asked them to tell me the date they mailed the package and also the package id (i was hoping that i could possibly search for the package through the postal service of my country). I asked them several times, i must have sent more than 10 emails. They never replied.
Anyway, i ll think what to do.Thanx for the advice CYNCRZR. One think is for sure. I wont give up trying. I m not rich and i dont like to throw away my money just like that.
Many thanks to all who shared their opinions with me

Blacktothebonne,
If you post the name of the supplier here, you will probably get your problem resolved a lot faster. It sounds like you have been very patient and understanding, so it's time for action. Just post the supplier's name and see if you get a response, that's what I would do. Three months is a bit long to wait for your parts or a credit, even if you are in Europe.

The Brit bike parts place in Chicago is notorious for ripping people off. I did business with Marshall once, but never again.
That's the ONLY time I've ever had a problem, most vendors are honest.
By the way, I don't think you need to protect the seller by not mentioning names. In fact, you do the motorcycling community a favor by exposing them.
