Arrow exhaust
I'm looking at aftermarket pipes for my SE, now...
There are a lot of options out there, but if I went with the Arrow pipes the dealer sells, why would I pick the 2 into 1 over the 2 into 2? Is it a substantial weight savings? Are they comparable in terms of performance and sound?
thanks,
Dana

The 2/2 pipes are around 22% more expensive and probably 40% heavier.
I've gone for them to achieve a balanced symmetric look.
The dealer assures me the power gain is 6 to 9 BHP. Both need a specific re-map of the ECU.

I went with the 2/1 version. I like the unbalanced look - it seems to suit my personality.
Only have very few miles on my bike so far, but for what it's worth, here's what I can tell you:
1- Headers turning a nice gold color, not sure if they'll "blue out" later - maybe Forchetto will tell us.
2- Had taken an SE with a few hundred miles on it that had stock pipes on a demo ride. My recollection of that bike was that it ran at least as strongly, if not even better, than my bike with Arrow and the ECU reflash, and I don't remember that bike having any burble/backfiring to speak of, which my bike does somewhat.
Take all of that with a big grain of salt of course - memory, different roads, mileage on the bikes, etc. But I'm honestly describing my impressions so far.
3- I'm not that thrilled with the sound so far either - higher pitched and a little more metallic sounding than I'd expected. But there again, pipes change their sound within a few hundred miles. They aren't too loud at low rpm, which I like. I'm not a fan of real loud pipes AT ALL. I was miserable on a Bonnie with D&Ds I had as a loaner a while back, as I'm sure all the non-riders (and voters) were within a quarter mile or so.
There you go, FWIW, which I know isn't much at this point.

the 2 into 1 will gain more horsepower than the 2 into 2 and weighs less. The 2 into 1 would be your best bet if you are going with the arrow exhaust.

thanks, guys.
The Bonnie I tested had the Arrow 2-1 on it, with the baffle removed. I loved the sound, but it echoed almost painfully inside the helmet on the highway.
The asymmetry kind of appeals to me, I'm not sure why.

A 2 into 2 will sound like a twin (nice throbbing type sound) whereas a 2 into 1 will not sound as much like a twin but will give you more top end.

Now that's interesting. Wish I'd known that before I bought the pipe, but such is life.
Update on my 2/1:
Headers bluing at the cylinder - looks good with the stainless gold color on the rest of the pipes.
Now that I've cheated more on the break-in rpms, I've found that the bike does have a very nice pull at the top of the rpm range, but I'm still not convinced it's really significantly better than the stock bike I rode.
Hogtied: your bike is spectacular!

Why so pricey??
Any thoughts on why the Arrow exhaust is so pricey compared to alternatives like Bristish-Customs??

Are people generally paying full retail for the Arrow pipes?
