Updated pics with stripped/coated tank

So after feeling inspired by someone else's work, I decided to strip my tank and spray with a matte clear coat.
Not sure if I like it as much as I thought I would.
Ultimately, it will be painted a matte black color like the rest of the bike.
But for now, here is a low res pic of 'er....

opinions? thoughts? interesting points of view?
love it? hate it?

In the picture, it looks like it's painted gray.

Yeah, that's exactly my problem. After using a matte clear coat, it ended up looking greyish. I think that's why it didn't strike my fancy like I thought it would -

I like it. I just don`t see how a clear coat, matte,or otherwise, can color the tank.Don`t take this the wrong way,but did you get down to the bare metal or just the gray, very hard to remove, seal coat below the paint and primer? Like this?

Better pics -

I'm pretty sure I got to the metal. This is the first time I've done something like this, but I read through your posts and others before attempting it.
I can tell you that the low res pic doesn't do anything for the tank's color.

Here are some better ones I took tonight:

The job isn't the best. I know. But the matte color coats dull the finish a little I think.

Dig it. You tank may eventually develop a spotty patina, even with the clear coat. I've had similar results with some steel railings I built.

Bare steel, while beautiful, is very difficult to keep pristine. Looks good for now, though!

I like that raw metal look.
A Monza fuel cap would go with it - stock now looks cheap and tinny (which it is).
What bars are they?
