Got new black Scrambler.. Pics and experiences

Hi all,
I got a Scrambler 09 this month. After 2 years with a Bonnie 07 this is the new machine. After the pics below I have my experiences and comparisons with my Bonnie black 07 with which I had 12,000 miles of enjoyment..

I did 900 miles so far. Really love it. These are my notes about differences when comparing with the black Bonnie 07:
- EFI: great starts. No need to use the choke..
- Mileage: about 5 more MPG than my 07 with carbs.
- No concept or "Reserve". A light turns on when the gas level reaches certain level. Mine turned on at about 130 miles. No fuel valve (on, off, reserve)
- Higher seat: 32.5" vs 30.5" on the 07 Bonnie (09 Bonnies are even lower). I'm 6'2", 34" inseam so is good.. Higher mirrors and handlebar, really good when line splitting to avoid cars mirrors.

- Pegs are higher. More ground clearance. Used to scrap the Bonnie pegs in the twisties a little bit but not with the Scrambler so far.

- More Suspension travel, smaller mudguards.
- Clock. Great. Symetric, In the middle (I had both speedometer and tach on Bonnie).
- Smaller headlight. I think it looks great.
- Handling: It feels better to me while cornering. Rest excellent handling as the Bonnie.
- Tires: great grip. No issue at all with those rain-threaded highways in California, which made the Bonnie with Metzelers wave. 30 psi front, 34 psi back (I was used to the 33/38 in the Bonnie)
- A little less power (HP).
- Just one side available (left) for saddlebags.
- The Triumph tank bag cannot be used with the Scrambler tachometer.
- In black it looks very close to a Bonneville 2007 or older, which I love..
- Gasoline: the Scrambler 09 owners manual specifies it can use 87 (with the Bonnie it was 89). I use 87 then and it runs great.

For some reason,I did not know Triumph made black Scramblers - but they sure look fine! Very nice bike - and love the gold lettering on the seat. I agree with the efi stuff. Seems pretty good so far.
Good luck with it.

Nice looking bike. I just saw one on the floor at my local dealer last week. They look even better in real life. Good luck with it...

Nice bike.
Is it me or did they slip the black in under the radar? I could have sworn that they were Matte OD and Khaki for 09.

Incredibly good looking machine! I come from the Henry Ford school of thought "You can have any color you want, as long as its black."

I struggled with the decsion to go with an 09 Scrambler or an 09 Bonneville with the mag wheels. I opted for the Bonnie - but part of me still wishes I had pulled the trigger on the Scrambler. Maybe I'll just have to add one to the stable someday!

Again - absolutley a killer looking bike. Enjoy it!

That is a HELL of a nice looking bike. Damnit... I am trying to make the decision as I write this post. 2009 T100 (Black and white) or 2009 Scrambler (Black).. I really cant make up my mind at this point. I have been trying to come to some kind of decision for the last two weeks or so. I really like the scrambler for its looks and versitility but I like the T100 as well. Nor2007...What made you change from the Bonnie to the Scrambler? Obviously both have strikingly good looks...

Ps. if anyone can direct me to a Bonnie vs. Scrambler thread I would really love to have a look.

Thanks
Jeff

Thats a beautiful bike. I like the combination of matt black engine and gloss black tank paint.

Is she staying stock.........or is there an aftermarket exhaust in the works?
