R.I.P. Scrambler
Well, I'd just gotten off work and was enjoying a nice ride home. I'd finally done the AB elimination and had D&D slip ons, a blast to ride. Sitting at a red light in the left turn lane a casually look to my left at the traffic going north/southbound and all of a sudden a jeep grand cherokee whips around the corner not braking, doesn't make the turn and is heading directly at me at about 40 mph. In about 1/2 a second I leap off my bike just as he hits the bike, crushing it into another truck that was next to me at the light. I got pretty banged up and will probably have to see the chiropractor for many months to come(I can barely walk right now). The driver told me his brakes didn't work very nonchalantly. It was a sad sight to see the ol' Scrambler demolished, crushed between his truck and another, all crumpled up. the driver did go to jail and insurance is sorting everything out at the moment, so someday I'll have another Triumph(not that I could ride right now!)Anywho, just another "I barely got out alive" story to remind everyone to watch what's going on around you, you never know what the hell is coming your way. Ride safe.

I certainly hope my reactions are as quick as yours should the need arise.
Heal fast and get another bike.

bc,
...good fast thinking on your part...I'm glad that you are alive and I hope your injuries you suffered will mend quickly. I probably would have froze like a deer in the headlights...

Wow...I'm very sorry about the mess but it sounds like you've got some darn good reaction skills. I know "it could've been worse" always sounds hollow but you may very well have saved your own life. I've been crashed out before. There'll be more bikes. Very glad to hear you're all together. So, did the guy go to jail for causing an accident? Was he f'ed up? Sadly, I see examples of selfish, no-skill driving more & more. Are we the last generation whose grandfathers taught us to drive?

Wow... that had to be a scary moment. Good thing you were paying attention to your surroundings even though you were stopped. Sorry about your Scrambler, but glad you made it out alive. Get well soon.

You are handling it better than I would've. I would be in jail after that moron said the brakes didn't work ("You don't say...") He would be recovering in the hosp. Good job getting away without major injury. Hope you're out and riding again soon.

Phew! Good for you to keep aware! You are living [the most improtant fact] proof that a rider must remain conscious of all that's happening around the bike.
Good job! Hope you get another motorcycle from that deadbeat.

Thanks for taking the time to post that story - a stark reminder as you say to keep your wits about you. The word 'nonchalantly' sent a slight shiver through the spine - there are crazy people out there that just dont give a f..k.

Good for you! Who says the captain must go down with the ship, anyway? Your story reminded me of the time I had to bail out of my R100GS ...... but that can come later! Glad you saw the jeep coming, and were able to escape being the meat on a jeep/ car sandwich!
