scrambler speedometer cable cure

Does anybody out think or know the best cure for a squealing speedo cable ? I was going to just shoot cable lube in there but, if somebody has a better idea I'm open to suggestions.

I pull the cable out of the housing from the bottom attach point at the hub, wipe it clean with WD40 and a rag, re-coat with a thin layer of bearing grease and put 'er back together. Haven't ever experienced the squeal.

Speedo cable lube

I do exactly the same, once a year, no problem after four seasons.
