Numbed leg on long rides

Several times, only on long rides, i felt that my left leg numbed.I have the king and queen seat, bar risers, and the modre peg lowering kit. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to correct this? I think that the problem is possibly the width of the K&Q seat, but i'm not sure.

There are nerves in your legs that can be pinched by pressure points. Over a long ride, the cushion on the K/Q seat will settle and create pressure points, my assumption is that one of them matches up with a nerve path for your leg.

You can verify this theory by adjusting your seating position as you ride on along trip, or by placing an additional pad of some-sort on your seat to change the contour of how you sit.

My assumption is you went this route to make it comfortable for the passenger, you can keep the seat and have the front half re-formed with gel inserts to reduce the pressure points. there are bunch of motorcycle seat upholstery places out there, I'm sure some of the folks here know of specific ones to recommend.

I still have the stock seat on my Bonnie. It seems to help to move my feet to the passenger pegs on longer rides.

the K&Q has a sharp cutoff on the sides near the nose.... and more of a rise than some seats (nose comes up near the tank more than it needs to).

Most likely - the sharper edge of the sides of the nose of the seat are pressing in on the underside of your leg.... I have thought about shaving that part of the seat a little more smooth.... with the stock pegs, it isn't bad, with lower pegs, more pressure is put on the underside of your leg by that same ridge.

Try the stock peg position and see if it gets better. Or, if that's not an option, you could pull the front part of the seat cover off, and round the edges just a bit.

I just sent off a spare K&Q I had (picked it up on ebay for $100) - to bill mayer saddles. Asked him to remove that ridge, and get rid of the rise, keep the same dish, and get rid of that annoying button tuck point stuff. SUPER improvement, but at a price...

I think Cantilever may have identified the problem. The lower pegs may allow more comfort with your legs stretched a bit, but it's definitely going to put more pressure in the inside of you legs where nerves can get pinched. I would try going back to the stock peg positions. If that gets rid of the numbness, then your option is to reshape the seat or learn to live with the peg position. Also, there's definitely some things you can do with your riding style that will help. I rode bicycles long distances for many years before getting a motorcycle (still do), and no matter how you're set up, there's still no substitute for varying your position on a regular basis. Sliding forward a little then back a little, doing the same with your feet on the pegs, and standing occasionally for a few seconds will allow you to ride comfortably for much longer. The key I've found is to do this before anything hurts.

And stretching out over the tank. This works well for me; moving around on the bike. And standing up and stretching at red lights. Sometimes it's good to extend a leg out while cruising, one at a time. Anything to improve circulation; you can feel what works when it feels good. I find it also helps to lift the torso to take pressure off the lower back and tailbone. With some practice and focus, this can be very effective and can be done sitting or standing, while still or moving. I do this on my daily 5 mile power walks when the knees start squeaking about mile 4. Visualize your spine being lifted upwards and your discs de-compressing. Ahhhh!:

Thank you!

Thank you all for your replies. I think that Cantilever is correct, i was also suspecting that the problem must have to do with the lowered pegs and the shape of the K&Q seat.I'm not removing the modre's kit because i will solve a new problem but i will return to an old one. Cantilever, please post some photos of your "remade" K&Q seat and tell us if it has improved the riding position. i will probably go to the same direction as you, but i need to understand exactly what to do so that i will not destroy the expensive k&Q seat.
