LED Turn Signal Bulb

I've bought a SingalMinder for my bonnie but have not yet installed it. I bought the SM mainly for the running lights option; but based on my rudimentary understanding of electronics, I do not think that the stock single filament incadescent bulb would last very long constantly burning.

I'm wondering if anyone's come across a direct fit LED or a dual filament bulb. I've searched the forum for ideas, but have only come across the instructions for modifying an LED bulb for the idiot light.

Thanks. Arty

I think you need to provide a bit clearer objective of what you want to accomplish. Do you have stock turn signals? If so they have single filament sockets and retrofitting dual contact sockets is needlessly complex. You likely can find a plug and play LED that will fit the stock lamps which no doubt is a generic single contact no. 15 bayonette base. It really comes down to clearance behind the lense and choice of LED for light distribution.
The DIY I posted for the LED cluster has the two companies that offer LED's for no. 15 base turn signal bulbs. Personally, I would either stick with the incadescent running/turnsignal single filament option with your module or go with LED single contact bulbs and not retrofit dual contact sockets but I can't stand the stock lights so would just go aftermarket. Check out my running light DIY for more options....
Cheers,
George

Do the running lights or corner lights on your car burn out when you drive at night? I`m pretty sure your bulbs are up to the task of being on at a reduced current in running mode. Hook that thing up and be a bit more visible,eh.

What Rob said. A further nuance is...filament size is proportionate to illumination. With dual filament bulbs, the running light element is more fragile and susceptible to vibration fatigue/fracture versus the turn signal filament. Also...most run turn modules that can create run turn capability with a single filament will depower the constant on running light circuit by adding resistance to the circuit. This will not only differentiate illumination which is need for separating turn signal function from running lights but also add life to a single filament bulb which is quite robust by nature. I am in fact switching out the dual filament lights on my bonny to single filaments and will likely run a Kury run turn module at some point. In any event, LED's change the landscape and if they are packagable as they are in many light recepticles they are much more robust in terms of filament failure.

Thanks for the info.

I do have stock signals (everything on the bike is still stock, I've only had it since February). My main goal is to not have to replace the bulbs too often. I checked out those two websites you had posted in your DIY thread. I'm going to go ahead and install the SignalMiner and hope the stock bulbs don't burn out before I get the LED ones in the mail.

I have an 2004 T100 with close to 18,000 miles. Never replaced a bulb yet. They are more durable than you think.
