Can TOR's be louder?

Just wondering. Heard them on a show room bike and bought a pair, but once I installed them they seemed so much quieter than I remembered. They seem almost "polite." Can I affect their sound at all, or should I just buy another brand? If so, does anyone have a suggestion? I unapologetically like loud. I'm not worried about my neighbors, or the law, or whatever. I've seen all the youtube clips, but the sound is so bad that I can't really tell what's up.

i've got TORS. They get louder as they get older. Basicaly at steady throttle openings they run loud but not deafeningly so. To get the full effect rip the throttle open aggressively. On my point and squirt rides to work they certainly seem loud enough under acceleration. Why spend money over again? Unless your after big performance hikes TORS do the job.

Nick said it right. Pipes are about taste really and everybodies is a bit different. Under full throttle TORS are pretty loud. Under cruise and idle they are relatively silent. They also aren't fart-ish in sound. For loud, I like Pred's. I kind of like loud also but no doubt the Triumph engineers hit the mark they were aiming for. They also preserve a lot of torque for the bike because they were developed for this bike. My bike pulls hard in 5th gear from 3K RPM on up...perhaps enough to warrant a 19t sprocket and taller gearing in fact. As a guy who has owned too loud a motorcycle or two...the TORS are nice. I don't idle the bike around when I ride it however and keep the R's up so I hear the TORS a lot. If you meander along, no doubt the sound is like riding in your car.
Lots of guys switch to Pred's from TORs because they agree with you OP.

+1 on above posts. Received wisdom on TORS is that they do get a little louder as they bed in.

If you don't mind how much noise you make, then the world is your lobster as Del Boy would say. NH TOGAS are reckoned to be the next step up, then Staintunes, Predators, BCs et al for the full monty.

Hi hawkline
I've heard TOR that have 7k mile on the them ,and they do sound nice ,better then new .
The choice is yours ,I'm looking to replace my bike and get a bonne again . If the choice was up to me ,it would have to be togas but if the bike came with TOR's I would be more then happy .

Hope this help

thanks for your thoughts

Thanks fellas. I think I'm going to stick with my TORS--since I've already spent a fortune on them. Also, I've heard a bit about a part that connects the 2 pipes and sort of balances them out that can be removed for a bit more volume. Need to do more research on that, though...

The TOR's have a nice sound. Especially if you get on the bike. I do agree they could use about 30% more sound when just cruising or idling. They are loud first thing in the morning though at full choke.

I bought my Bonnie from a Harley dealer last year. Someone traded it for a Screaming Eagle Softail Springer after putting only 3000 miles on the 07 Bonnie. Dealer said the Bonnie was his first bike. Went from that to a $30,000 bike.

I bought the Bonnie off ebay. Just called the dealer and made an offer that was $500 less than the asking price on Ebay. They called me back a few days later and took the offer. I asked if it had pipes on it and they said it had stock pipes. I almost ordered a set of pipes before I picked up the bike. It's a good thing I didn't because I was surprised to see that the bike had the TOR's on it when I picked it up. So for free I'm happy. They do seem to be picking up a bit more bark now as I'm approaching 7000 miles.

Bonnie TORS must be a lot quieter than the ones on Scramblers as mine are ridiculously loud. I don't buy into the whole "It's because they are both on the same side and closer to your ears" guff either because i've heard them with other people riding off and past me on my bike and they are pretty rude sounding.

They get loader with age.The best thing to do with tors is not buy then in the first place there are alot better pipes out there. If someone wants to try a set there better buying them used that way they can get there money back when they want to get better pipes.
Been there done that.

Listen to the above posts . TORs are good pipes. After about 1k miles you'll notice a difference . By 5-6k you'll be loving them. Loud pop with minimal rasp. I traded mine with a bud who stll has them with 16k on them . Hearing them kinda mades me wish I still had them . But then I look at my Zards . Then I wish I had another bike with the TORs.
