I feel fortunate.
I haven't done the garage thing for a while. Just going out and walking around the T100, and thinking, 'what a neat bike the old Brit machines were.' I did tonight. And began thinking, how fortunate I am that Triumph has brought a retro bike back to the marketplace that is as nice a machine as the Bonneville. Not as slim and trim as the original, but, neither am I!
I also feel so fortunate, living in a time where things like cataracts can be corrected in an out patient surgery. At age 66, I had a Toric lens implanted last Thur in my right eye during cataract removal, left eye is scheduled this coming Thur. 20:20 distance vision in the corrected eye. I probably shouldn't have been out on the Triumph so soon, but I had to give the 'new' eye a try. To quote a commercial .... 'Priceless'.
Like all you guys my age (not many on this site) know, we all spend way more time at doctor's offices than we'd like to, but it beats the hell out of the alternative!
Anyway, it hit me this evening ...... it's so good to be able to walk to the garage, admire the T100, admire the shape of the fuel tank, with its historic Triumph logo, and just appreciate the fact that John Bloor cared enough to bring them back, and plan ahead on where she and I will go this summer.
I am obsessed with these two-wheeled beauties! As a 15 year old BMW ad campaign suggested, motorcycles are "Worth the Obsession."
Bikes ..... they are an obsession. May that never end!
Bob

I concur ... my Dad got me hooked on motorcycles when he put me in front of him on his 175 HD enduro back in the late 70's and took me across town to pre-school. Times have changed, (they would put him in jail for that now) but I still love to ride. Thanks Dad....

Yes, we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the machines we love, and today was a great day. Seventy degrees, light wind and bright sunshine in north Texas when it could easily be near 100 this time of year.
Got my lawn care duties done in the morning. Then hopped on the Scrambler and spent the afternoon enjoying the weather and motorcycle sounds. Stopped by my brother-in-law's and while admiring the Scram (he had not seen this bike before) I couldn't help but mention how much it made me feel like I was riding 40 years ago except this bike handles better and doesn't leak or break like our vintage bikes did. My but it has been a glorious day!
I grew up with Harleys as my dad was a Harley mechanic all his life, and I've owned and ridden many different machines in the last 48 years. I'm still fond of Harleys and my wife insists I keep one in the stable just so she can hear it run once in awhile, but the Scrambler really does it for me. I'll echo your thanks to Mr. Bloor for bringing us these great bikes.

My dad forbad motorcycles which inspired me in the late 60s to start riding. Thanks Dad! (We have come to accept each others' foibles and Dad actually supports my obsession now.)

nicely put, ohiorider
To some, these retro bikes make no sense at all. To others they whisper and tease like some siren ...
And suddenly, it's your old bike x3, the road ahead opens and all she wants to do is dance ...

You know my Dad got me hooked as well on bikes. He wasnt even that much of a nut about them.
Today I was looking at the classifieds and there was this 1986 Yamaha XT350 dual purpose machine. That was the last bike my Dad owned and as a 10 year old I spent a ton of time on that bike up in the mtns of BC. Those were great times just me and my Dad and hundreds of kms of logging and fire roads. He sold it years ago but that add brought back many memories for me and why I love riding.
