2009 Triumph Bonneville Review
This was just posted:

Note the "clever cloaking" of the EFI system.

Not a bad review. Overall it seems like the new new Bonnies are well received. There are some decent side by side pics there, especially showing the scalloped seat. I hadn't appreciated how scalloped it was until I saw one in person.

I'm still not a fan of the cast wheels. But the picture of the Bonnie Black with them looks pretty good.

Very nice!
I saw the SE in Jet Black and Basic in Fusion White at my Triumph dealer last weekend, and have to say they are both very good looking ... much better than the pictures.
I ride a Sprint but I am seriously considering a trade for an SE. I like the ergos and the wheels give it a bit of a roadster appearance.
Nicely done Triumph. Maybe it's time for a change of character for me.

I find that the smaller wheels & shorter shock would be enough for me on my 09 Bonnie Black. I could do without the scalloped seat. My local dealer however tells me that I cannot fit the old 'standard' seat or the 09 T100 seat because they will not fit - the frame is different. Is this true? Can anyone advise on this?

I don't think that's true. The frame has not changed, and they are still offering all the other accessory seats (king and queen, single seat, contemporary seat), so that's bunkum. The old style standard seat will fit.
Have your dealer show you. It takes about a minute to swap seats, he can do it for you right there, and show you the difference. Bet him an oil change or something.

You can't beat experimentation, eh?
I note from the 09 accessory catalog that the seats you mention above are listed for the Bonnie and SE and T100. However, they do have different part numbers to those in an older (06) booklet I have. I initially thought that perhaps the 09 T100 has a new frame too, but why would it? Maybe the only difference is the logo on the back of the seat.
Incidentally, I'm still not very happy with the rear suspension even though the Ikons have made an improvement. Had a ride yesterday on a friend's Vstrom - far superior ride.

Yup, you're right, Prop. Went down the dealers this morning and tried on a second-hand King+Queen seat he had there off a 2006 T100. It fitted perfectly; it also looked terrible on my bike, but that's a different matter.
I wouldn't mind trying a standard Bonnie seat, but I suspect Triumph prices are too high. If the seat pan is the same, I suppose I could get it rebuilt & recovered for about half the price. Some of the aftermarket seats (Russell, Corbin, etc) look tasty but shipping costs to get one sent down under are exorbitant.

When looking at a 2008 bonnie side by side against the SE, the SE front tyre looks too small - sort of looks like a super motard. I am sure the smaller tyre would no doubt make for increased 'flickability' but give me the larger front rim any day...
