Whats up with scrambler values?
Whats up with bike values lately? im contemplating selling my 06 scrambler so ive been looking up its value and seeing what ones for sale are going for. I was alittle shocked, I havent seen one for over the 4k range. I understand depreciation and all but 60% I paid close to 9 out of the door with the ISDT package.
Is it just that theres no market for scramblers? I havent been hiding under a rock I know theres a stupid recession is going on. Just what ive been seeing just seems really low to me I dont know am I just crazy?
Im not trying to sell anything with this post.
I guess it could be worse I could be stuck with a crappy bike thats not worth anything instead of an awesome bike thats not worth anything.

The economy is making it a buyers market.
I would suggest hanging onto your Scrambler, even if you are in the market for something else. If Triumph discontinues the model my guess is that it will be considered a classic and will rise in value. It is a great looking bike.

Wait till gas climbs above $4 per gallon again (It's not if, it's when).
That will raise the value quite nicely.

Not a lot of folks out there care for the model. Although, it was welcomed as a retro version of a classic Triumph "desert" bike. In the flesh, the intro turned out to be less a dual purpose ride and more an interesting styling exercise, taking ques from the older Triumph Bonneville model.
I know of several shops that had Scramblers on there showroom floor while other models were selling.
Discriminating tastes, I'd say. Some like it, so don't. But, in all not a large customer base. Maybe the model will acquire a "classic" status in the future.

GoldenJubileeBonne, I think with a good pair of knobbies the scrambler could make a great dual purpose bike. Theres a video on youtube of a guy who raced a scrambler from vegas to reno, I think he did pretty good too. But I do see what your saying. I guess you have to ride it to really apperciate it.
Im only even thinking about selling it because I found an early bronco for sale and thats something ive always wanted. I definitaly wouldnt sell the scrambler for another motorcycle.

2006 Triumph Scrambler Value
April 1, 2009 - 2-Cylinders
- 4-Stroke
- 865cc
Suggested Retail Value $5840
Trade-In Value (Good Condition) $4025
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

I think you need to head over to this thread http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141616 to see what real riders are doing with it.

My partner would love a Scrambler, so on a purely selfish & greedy note we'd love the prices to drop. However, it's such a pretty bike that we don't think it will happen. Serious off-road bike - Nope. Great looking characterful all-rounder - Yep

Why not ask the guy with the Bronco if he wants to trade? No sales tax if it's an even swap...

Go by what others are selling for , not what some of the books say . I've seen the Bonnies go for a little more than what the blue book says . As long as it's a cared for bike .
