Scrambler seat tool

What exactly do you use to remove the seat screws on the Scrambler? I installed the backrest and ended up stripping several of the fasteners. I have a fairly complete tool set, but obviously used the wrong wrench.

I think they use the same screws as the Bonnie - I just use a ball ended allen driver. 5mm I think.

Sounds like it's time to spring for a couple of extended seat bolts (you'll be glad you did).

hey bikebits

pretty slick solution. What did you glue with the gorilla glue? You oughta do a "how to"..

My Scram came missing the seat bolts, and by the time I discovered it, my dealer had gone out of business, so I just borrowed one from the Legend I had at that time. So I've only had one bolt in place ever. it never has been at the top of my to-do ist to get another bolt or set of bolts.

Get a 5mm hex socket and use a ratcheting socket wrench with a mid-length extension. I've used that system on both my T-bird (which had the backrest/rack) as well as my new Scram.

Works great and much less frustrating than trying to maneuver that tiny hex key.

When you refit the screws, put a spring washer on as well. I've heard of these screws falling out.

I sort of halfway cross threaded one of my seat screws. Had to buy a little tap & die set to re-run the threads. The seat design irritates me everytime I use it. Why they didn't use a hinged seat is beyond me.

Look behind your left side cover ...

I have a 2006 Scrambler and it came with a 5mm allen wrench behind the left side cover. It is sitting in a rubber mount near the air cleaner inlet ....

Normally I use a 5mm "T" handle allen wrench ..... the one under the cover I use on the road if necessary.
