Parts bin specials

So it's a wet & miserable day in good old sunny Queensland and there'll be no riding done today - what's a bloke to do for amusement? I know - I'll peruse the Triumph site again and drool over the bikes I can't afford - again. Hey! This "Create my Triumph" thing is fun let's play with that a while. Nah! This is to boring - not enough options available.

By this time a little seed has been planted and my imagination has taken over - Hmmm, what if you combined this with that - what would that look like I wonder? Let's see then.

Now I'm no genius when it comes to graphic art so my work is rather crude to say the least but I enjoyed tooling around with this and thought I'd share it with the forum just for fun - it helped me pass the day anyway.

Firstly we have a black & white themed Thruxton:-

Next we have a red & black themed Thruxton:-

Then we have a "Bonnie Black" themed Thruxton (please ignore the two gear levers):-

And finally we have the one that started it all the green & white themed Thruxton:-

Take your pick.

Well, I guess I should have been down in the shed polishing my T100 and not doodling around on the computer but it was fun.

I think the Bonnie Black themed Thruxton looks particularly good too, maybe replace the case cover bolts with gold anodised ones and add a little bit of gold pinstriping here and there to finish it off.

One little thing that annoyed me was the body coloured side covers on the Forrest Green & New England White T100 in the "Create my triumph" dohickey. To my knowledge you can't buy body coloured side covers for the green & white T100 - if they did I'd have a pair in a flash - and here they are teasing me with them on their site.

Gold and black Thruxton would be a gem. I would like to see that go into production.

That would be a real throw back to the early days when Velocette's and Norton's came like that.

The red one certainly isn't low key. I think it works...

Yup...the blacked out & gold Thrux should be in the 2010 model line-up! Probably gold stripes up the center of the tank & cowl...thinner ones on the front fender rib? A real beauty!

That black kind of reminds me of the Harley XLCR!

Cheers,
BLIGHT

Red Hots

I love the Red and Black. I painted my old '74 cb450 Candy Apple Red back in the day. It is my favorite color for a bike, along with Silver, Black, Green, Orange, Blue,....... Can I have one of each please?

Yep, my thoughts exactly - maybe with the addition of gold anodised engine cover screws. What about gold anodised rims or would that be too much?

Black & gold do compliment each other nicely though.

If you've got the cheque book to match I'm sure Triumph will oblige.

Back in the mid seventies I had a CB750 four that was fire engine red, complete with nickle plated frame, mag wheels, bikini fairing and 4 into 2 crossover pipes. Sweetest sounding motorcyle I've ever owned and a good looker in its day as well, pity it handled like a pig.

My brother had a CB450 twin at that time as well, damn fast motorcyle for its size, couldn't drop him off my tail in the tighter sections but the CB750 had the legs once we hit the longer straights. Nearly sure the remains of that CB450 are still buried in the back of my brothers shed somewhere but the CB750 is long gone - unfortunately.

Black & Gold - Like this?

The pinstripes were done for me by a retired Spraypainter who lived accross the road.
He just put some chalk marks on the tank and did them freehand!
The guy at the auto paint store told me 'you cant paint 2 pac on with a brush' but when I took the bike back he was amazed.
I realy like the stripes cause you can tell they are hand done from the small imperfections.
