Chrome Oval Mirror Modification

At the behest of Mike at BellaCourse, I am posting a mod I have had success with on the Chrome Oval Mirrors-You know, the ones that look great but you cant see behind you worth a damn.

I purchased a couple of 2in convex mirrors from the automotive department at Walmart for about 2 bucks each. Removed the black plastic housing, which left just the mirror itself. I then grinded down the edges of the mirrors with a belt shaper to fit within the chrome frame of the mirror body on the outboard edges. Applied with two sided tape and voila, great rear view vision.

See pic...

Very clever - for those who do not like bar ends but need to see behind them! Sheesh, those stock mirrors are the pits.

I have these mirrors and they look great looking but are worthless! Great fix that I'll definitely try!

Thanks!

stick on

Not sure if you have in US but I actually bought a pair that stick on from a 2 dollar shop in sydney. Have not used on bike but have had for about 3 yrs on my car mirrors and they hold well, and still only cost 2 bucks a pair. Plus there was no cutting involved.
