How much did you pay for your Triumph?

Hey Everyone,

I am really interested in getting a Triumph Bonneville or Thruxton for my second bike and I would like to know what you paid for yours. I was looking at standard '08 Bonneville's,and I've seen otd prices at 8k flat, but that would mean me driving from Sacramento to LA. A closer dealer told me that they were just trying to break even move their old 08 standard Bonneville's but that was a otd quoted at 8500, $500 more then the earlier quote.

What I want to know is:

-Were you able to negotiate the price?

-Who did you purchase your Triumph from? (esp if in CA)

-What was the final price OTD?

-When would be the best time of year to find a good deal?

Thanks!

I purchased my '08 t100 from OTD in Inglewood and they weren't really down to negotiate at all... They kept stating that's why they were called "out the door"- because that's the price.
They still went down a couple hundred and I paid $8400- but coming in, I expected to talk them down more than that.

I paid 9500, but that included a shedload of accessories.

Sometimes there is more to be gained in negotiation in terms of additional stuff, rather than lowering the price. For instance I negotiated the first service into the deal, so that I didn't have to pay any labour, only the oil and filter for the 500 mile service, and also got 10% off all the accessories I bought with it. I did get a couple of hundred bucks off the price of the bike too.

I felt I was walking out with a fair deal, so it worked for me.

In April of 07 I paid $8500 out the door for my T100. Check around cause the dealer closest to me wamted $9600 out the door. Had to drive 60 miles to save $1100 .

also sorta hard to compare what folks are paying who live in different states. My $8500 included 3% NC sales tax and all registration and fees and I'm not sure all states charge a sales tax.

If you can get one at MSRP, I think you're doing well. Dealers usually add about a $500 prep fee. That's the uncrating-checking-out-the-bike money. Since you rarely get $500 worth of anything, you should be able to negotiate that value. When I bought my bike last spring (Matt Capri, South Bay Triumph, Lomita), Triumph was offering low interest or $500 worth of accessories. That always helps, too. I don't think I got a great deal, but it was a fair price for a bike I really like - and continue to like. That makes a lot of difference.

I've read many posts about this, and it seems that some dealers deal and others do not at all or very little. Mine did a little because I bought in early February.
My point, though is this - if it is a new 2008 you crave go out and look for the best deal, but I see so many low milage Bonnevilles out there - like 6k or less - you can save a bunch in depreciated value. Most of these are adult owned, it seems, and probably well maintained.
Good luck!

I bought my 08 Bonnie Black in March of 08, the beginning of the selling season for bikes. My local dealer would not budge on the list price, so I called around and found a dealer an hour away that would give me $400 off list, plus he threw in a summer windshield at about $80 off. Considering the state of the economy, I would expect that you could find someone willing to negotiate on the price. My only suggestion is to call first and work out a deal over the phone, because they are much less flexible when you are in the showroom and they have inertia on their side. On the phone, they worry that if they don't motivate you to drop by, you may never show up. Also, they can't see your poker face. This tactic has worked for me when buying both bikes and cars -- I've even bought a car over the phone and signed the papers by fax.

August 2008 I bought my 2007 bonnie black for $7000.00 out the door. It had the contemporary seat, tors, chrome valve cover, T100 instrumentation with tach, locking gas cap and center stand.

In November 07 I bought my silver standard Bonnie for $6500 - it was considered used with 8 miles on it.
