The quality of the dealer should be of some concern.. are they good people and do they keep there shop employees long term.
Having a good shop to take your bike to if needed is priceless imo.
The dealers in my area are sketchy at best. Drove 3 1/2 hours to purchase my bike.. will drive the same distance if i ever need to have it worked on.

No sales tax out there?

It's Alberta, no provincial sales tax, just the 5% GST. I really only paid $6500 but after the tax and their "fees" it was 7K. It wasn't brand new but it only had 4000kms on it, less kms then their demo.

I came into the dealership one day just to say hi and told them I had a Bonnie project in mind. They said they were going to be taking one in on trade for a quad. I said it had to be the 865 and a Black and if under 7K I would just take it. Called me a week later and told me the price so I went to pay for it and to my surprise it has all the extras on it so I rode away a happy camper.

A closer dealer told me that they were just trying to break even move their old 08 standard Bonneville's but that was a otd quoted at 8500, $500 more then the earlier quote.
Give ACE Motorsports in Concord a call: 1-925-969-7818.
I purchased my Rocket III there last April and got a terrific deal. If you're looking for an '08 you should be able to negotiate a good savings over buying an '09.

I paid full MSRP for my 50th Anniversary Edition Bonneville at Tri-Valley Motorsports in Livermore and they wouldn't deal because they knew the bike was difficult to find.
I paid $14,100 OTD for my Rocket at Ace which was a lot less than anyplace else I called (including a dealer in Sac.).

RIGHT NOW!
Dealers are anxious to clear out '08's so they can focus on selling new '09's.

BTW - I have found the service and quality of work at Ace to be top notch. I recommend them very strongly.

6900.00 for a brand new 06 Thruxton for the street OTD. Then another new 06 demo for the race bike at 6500.00 OTD. No need to negotiate on either at these prices. As far as the best deal time, generally at the end of the year just before inventory time. Most dealers have to pay added taxes on bikes still remaining on their floor plan.

Cheers

I bought my new 2006 Scrambler at my local dealer in Feb, 2008 for $6,500. No extra setup or delivery costs. Of course the bike was almost 2 years old at the time but it was stll a new bike with a full warranty.

Another banana republic here. Standard Bonneville, bought on October of 2004 for 9.300 euros. Do the conversion in dollars but don't tell me, i don't want to know...

You guys paying euros for you bikes...... It is completely bizarre pricing. I could of bought 2 of my bikes for one of yours and still had gas money. I thought Canada was bad......
