just had my bike set up with Tuneboy. They put in a 2 into 2 tune with mods for my bike. I want to start playing with the timing, but am afraid to lose the tune. can I pull this tune out and save it on my bike. I didn't get a copy of the tune from the dyno shop.
I'd like to be able to edit this tune and go back to the modified tune if i don't like the results.

You cannot retrieve the current file in a format you can use.
What you have to do is take a back-up copy - 'Tools'; 'Backup ECU Contents' then save under a filename_of_your_choice.tbk

You need to send that file to Wayne at Tuneboy to convert that back to your custom tune file that you can save for reference &/or modify further as you choose.

From now on, try to remember to take a thumb drive to the shop when dyno tuning. Or have them email it to you. The shop should have saved it when done.

Ok, if I understand now, I can't retrieve the tune from my ecu. I can load another which will negate the one that's installed. The way to save the tune is to edit on the computer, saving the file and then to download to the ecu, make the next change, save on file and download again. Basically, I'm writing the tune, making changes, saving it on file and downloading to the ecu. Am I correct so far?

Yes, that is the usual way of doing things.

If you really need some tune off your bike, you will have to go the backup+email to TuneBoy route 'Tripp described.
