Anyone out there ever replace the headlight lense. Last year I took on a good size rock outside of Memphis TN and it put a small hole in the lense. I taped it up with clear tape and it has been fine (and waterproof) ever since. Eventually I'll have to replace it. At my 18,000 check we priced a replacement and it was a boat load of money because you have to replace the dual light assembly and it involves removal of the fairing. Any similar experiences.

Your best bet would be to check round some of the breakers.

Even if you are just replacing one lens I imagine you would still have to remove the fairing to get to the light unit, that's the cse on my single light Trophy and dual light Tiger.

Even just to change a bulb the fairing has to be removed.

A couple of months ago, what I thought was a big dirt clod flung up by a truck I was passing whacked the front of my '01. That dirt clod obviously had a rock in it because it shattered the right side lens. Oddly enough, the light bulb still worked; apparently, the rock hit hard enough to do the damage but otherwise skipped off. Didn't touch the fairing. The headlight assembly was USD 278. I didn't check the labor; partly because it was wrapped up in some other work done at the same time, and partly because I'm not sure I wanted to know. :lalala:

I'm thinking of getting one of those Ventura headlight guards. Anyone have any experience with such things?
