Talking Clock

Howdy, I have been having a problem with my Trophy's clock. I uncover it....er her, in the morning just to see that the clock stopped some time during the night. Maybe 1100, sometimes 0100, but nothing consistent. Later in the initial ride to work she starts working. The night temp ranges from 48-59 degrees. Could it be the cold, or does she hate me?

Also if someone could please tell me what the knob in the left fairing storage is for I might get a full night sleep. It's right above the fuses. I have a 1996. Thanks.

I was having a similar issue with my clock. I really didn't think anything of it, thought it was just one of those glitches, and actually thought it was beneficial, because the clock would not wear down the battery if the bike sat for a longer time. I had put a brand new battery in, so I was pretty sure it was not caused by a low voltage situation. However, after I did some service to the bike, and ended up taking all the fairings off, and had disconnected the electrical harness, after I put it back together, the clock has been running continuously, and actually keeping fairly accurate time. So, perhaps you might want to try simply disconnecting the wiring harness under the front right side of the fairing, and lubing it with some dielectric grease before you reconnect it.
The knob inside the RIGHT side fairing storage compartment, above the fuse box, is to adjust the headlight up or down.

Clock & Knob

The knob is for adjusting the headlight between fully loaded bags and passenger and one-up riding.

The clock is sometimes a grounding issue or a low voltage thershold for operation.

That's all I know.

Had that problem with my '96 Trophy's clock. First I tried a new ground strap, didn't help. Then I gently snugged up the nuts on the back of the clock....That did it, never dropped a minute since.

Same issue with my 2000. It will be off when I get out in the AM. I can set it on the way to work or as I am riding and it will keep perfect time all day. Have not meesed with any wiring on it yet. I don't usually care what time it is while I am riding.

Thanks gentlemen I appreciate the replies. This forum is better than talking with the Triumph dealer. When I have her serviced I will check the wires and put some of that goo on them. By the way I think you do get more chicks with the maroon ones.
