Hi All

I only have the small book that came with my bike.

I want to do a spring check up, questions:

Handbook specs: Universal Brake & Clutch Fluid DOT 4

I can't find that stuff at any auto parts store...is there an alternative?

The Chain Adjustment Wrench....Handbook doesn't state a 1/2" Allen wrench but that is the measurment I'm getting...am I right?

Again I can't find a wrench that big either... HELP

Thanks
Joe

Most DOT 3 brake fluid also meets DOT 4 spec. it should say so on the can. I use Castrol LMA and it works fine.

The big allen wrench in your tool kit is for the chain adjuster. If you don't have your tool kit I would measure across the flats in the adjustment and go to Sears or NAPA, they should be able to fix you up.

I believe you'll find it's a 12mm (approx 1/2 inch). It should be in your tool kit. At 25.4 mm to an inch, the 1/2 might be a little tight.

DOT 4 is fairly common, it is the same as DOT 3 but has a higher boiling point. Go to Advance Auto and get the Valvoline Syn Power DOT 3 and 4 fluid. I use this on all my bikes. http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=51

It mixes with either DOT 3 or 4 and has served me well. Quite often it is on sale too.
