Question fixing my pannier

you may remember during the winter i took the 1200 out for a run to keep it alive and i forgot to hitch the pannier on properly resulting in it bouncing down the road after a speed bump.....

anyway, lots of scratches but no massive damage other than the hook at the bottom for the latch was bent.... i've cut of the bolts today and straightened the piece of metel but i don't know what tool to re-fix it....

i have a rivet tool but that only pulls one side and the other seem to be attached differnetly.... anyone got any ideas?

here a pic....

James,
They where originaly pop-riveted on whith a washer on the inside of the box for the one rivet on the end. I would think pop-rivets would be fine to put it back together. Just make sure you use the rivets with the steel pull post and not aluminum and it should be fine. Put the rivets in the same direction as your other side box and you shouldn't have any clearance probs with the latch.

I did that job several years ago, pop rivets are fine. I put them in from the side opposite the hook.

I did the same. My cases also were vibrating over rough roads. Some of the fuzzy sided velcro(self-sticking) on the inside of the hook really tightened up the locking mechanisms. Quiet as a mouse.
