I was reading the "Holiday Edition" of Motor Cyclist Magazine (US) and read with interest the gossip tidbit where the mag reported that Triumph was shelving the Daytona 1300, but "not to worry. They have it from very reliable sources that this engine development will be used in a forthcoming new Trophy, with shaft drive".
Let's hope this is another case of Triumph "We're not building a super cruiser (Rocket 3). Where did you get that idea?"

Someone commenting on today's press release at Motorcycle Online said one was in the works for 2005. Sounds about right. Meanwhile, excellent used examples are available on the cheap.

I have read in a couple of places the same rumor floating around. I would think they would want to get an ROI on the 1300 motor and a new shaft drive Trophy would be a nice way to do it.

iconoklass, that was me that posted. I heard the rumor from the guys at the Triumph shop Wednesday when I was picking up an oil filter.
They were pretty convinced it was real.
