Brake light trouble

The lights do not get brighter when I apply the brakes. Well, they get a little brighter but the elements for the actual brake lights do not light up. Changed the bulbs, changed the brake switch (on the front lever) but still no fix. Not a problem I've had b4. Anyone have a fix?

Thanks
Brian

does your horn work? the horn shares the same fuse for the brake light. also did you check both brake pedals, foot and hand to see if they work.if all ok check power to the green wire going to the brake lamp. if power there has to be bulb or connection at bulb.

Horn works and same brake light result no matter front or rear brake. I'll have to pull it apart next weekend and see waht is going on.

Thanks,

focus the light

I added some reflective tape around the inside of my taillight lense and cut two small diamond shapes in the lower section for the light to go thru to the license plate.Worked well as it kept the light from escaping around the lense, now it only goes out the back .Plus I added some of those blinking hyper light pods just under the lense to supplement the "noticability" of the brake lights!!!!

Be sure to check the "ground" , there might me corrosion at the grounding lug. Also check for broken or crushed wiring.

Oh yea!

Come to think of it,I had an issue like this last year.I would apply the brakes(front or back) and no brake lights.Taillight was on but no brake light. Well after adding the Hyperlight PODS.I still had the same issue, but my PODS were blinking(as they should),so I knew I was getting power at the bulbs.then it hit me!! I had put in higher wattage Halogen bulbs,I switched back to the standard wattage and just like that, started to work all the time!! The stock wattage is 5/21,I had 15/50 in there.
Now I never blew a fuse, but perhaps the higher wattage was causing an issue in some form?

Thanks for all the input. It has been too pretty to work on the Trophy. The riding weather is not this good for long here so I have been taking advantage of it.

I'm planning to get to it tomorrow afternoon.

I appreciate all the brain storming.
