Well, I took the plunge and chopped 3.5" off the stock screen today. This was just enough to shave off the annoying lip, which I believe to be the source of the buffeting problem. I'll leave a report if this turns out to be an effective solution.

Succcess! This seems to be a good solution for now. Much better than the eddying currents I was facing before.

Screen troubles
Thank you all for your input.

In the end I bought a low sport screen from Gustaffson in the USA - shipped direct to me here in the UK. It came without holes drilled so it was a bit fiddly to fit. I also had to get some longer screws - the original plastic ones had given up after being undone and done up so many times as I took the old screen on and off - so I got stainless ones, but needed 3 longer ones for the middle 3 holes. This is because this screen sits an a lower angle than the fairing, and so you can't pull the screen right up against the fairing eveywhere.

Anyway it works. It's a bit better than my very cut down standard one was - worth the cost - it was only £75. ($145)

So I have a new standard OEM screen here and a laminar lip - both only used for 20 miles - and I'd be happy to part with both or either for a very small contribution as otherwise they'll just sit in my loft gathering dust. At least I can ride it now - or will be able to when I've cured the misfire.

Sorry for the ignorance but what is the laminar lip? Is it the black channel that goes around the top of the screen? Mine came loose and was lost as I transported the bike after I bought it. Just received and new one and have not yet installed it, but it seems mixed as to whether it is better or worse.

Narrowminded,

I suggest you go over the helments tested on www.webbikeworld.com
I paste the helmet page here:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...le-helmets.htm

I suggest you start with the Schuberth R1, Arai Vevtor and Roof Lemans (which I do not think is sold in the U.S. but maybe can be ordered).

I would like to buy the laminar lip from you, assuming this is the aftermarket one that raises the airflow rather than the simple OEM rubber strip.

Please let me know how much you want, including UK postage.

Thanks,

Martin.

I have a Lamilar Lip. The Snap-Velcro will not work. The factory shield has a scratch-resistant coating that prevents bonding of any sort.
