Trophy Accessories...Lack of

Is it just me or is there a total lack of "Accessories" or "Mods" available for Trophy's. For a bike that can remain in service for 10's of thousands of miles, and of such great quality I feel there should be items available everywhere. I know its not going to be like my crusier, but come on.

Items: Aftermarket pipes(also are stockers still available), mounts for gps units(tourtech...), seats, wheels......

bwelsh,
I hear ya man. But, in the greater scheme of things. When you stop to think that there are thousands of different models, and years of models, of motorcycles out there, Trophy's only make up a tiny speck of those. Everything works by volume and demand. Not much demand. Not too many manufacturers are going to bother with all the trouble and cost for enginering, testing, tooling, storing, shipping, etc for such a low demand. Heck, go to AFAM's web sight and just look at the thousands of sprockets they make for different bikes, it blows my mind. Try to imagine someone doing the same thing with exhaust systems. But, for mounting systems, try RAM mounts (www.ram-mount.com). Most stuff you have to find that are of the more "universal fit" type. There are manufacturers that make seats, windshields, exhaust, suspension, specificaly for the Trophy, but not much else, and only a few of those. You pretty much have to look around and try to find things that will work with a little modification or fabrication. Heck, you could all ways strip your rims and have them polished!!

Happy Trails!!

I sent out a message a few weeks ago on the Yahoo list trying to see what people wanted most. Gary Murphy is a great supplier of parts to my last bike, and after talking with him he said that he would like to get into the Trophy market. He is trying to get his business expanded is doing a great job of it. Check him out if you want at murpskits.com

His service and shipping is tramendous! He is very popular on the COG forums. He wanted me to find out what some people might need most often.

He sells a really neat oil filter adapter for the concours and is wanting to find out if it works for the trophy as well, just needs a test pilot. The original oil filter is the same as the concours.

I don't think many companies would be clamoring to build accessories for a bike that was last made in 2002 and was a limited production model compared to other bikes to begin with.

There are a few slip on mufflers from D&D and Staintune, carb jet kits, Corbin makes a seat, and other seat makers will use your stock seat pan. Clearview makes aftermarket windshields for the Trophy, but that's about it. I'm sure there's a GPS mount somewhere out there that will fit, but I haven't looked too hard yet. As far as wheels, I have seen some of the same wheels polished that looked really good. I don't think anyone makes aftermarket wheels specifically for any of the sport tourers though.

My wife's Trophy currently run's D&D mufflers, the carb jets have been upped a bit, and she has a taller Clearview windshield. I can't think of too many other accessories that the Trophy needs that aren't already available?

I agree mostly. Triumph did a great job with the Trophy, especially the later models.

I do have a RAM mount for my Garmin 2610 and it looks good. I just really like the Touratech mounts that sit down between handle bars. They make them for the Sprints, but not our bikes.

Don't need new wheels just wandering. Actually I really like the looks of mine, but what happens when you need to replace one or both? (Wreck, pot hole...)

Don't really want to replace stock exhaust either, but read somewhere yesterday that the first few 1200's had some 141 hp. Now why would I want to do that to my Trophy, well because I can. Our bikes would be real cool running 141 hp at some 6-10 years old. I am sure it would envolve jetting, exhaust, gearing....? I just hope Triumph listens to us and builds us another Trophy with all the new tech built in.

I do have the taller windscreen mounted, don't know by who beacuse it came with bike when I bought it, but cannot imagine bike without it.

I have a throtle mister. Just cannot seem to get adjusted properly. Would really like to get working right though.

Any ho, just wandering about different modes/add on's made out there or lack of mods/accessories available.

Talking windscreen

I know what you are saying. I love this bike and I know some one that has 210,000 miles on one. I need a taller wind screen. I can't find one. I called a place in Orange Co. CA they said that they would make one for production all they need is the bike. I no longer live there, I am in Kansas City (home of the Chiefs).

Is the tall Clearview wind screen not tall enough for you? It sits pretty high. My wife has the "GT Large" with the adjustable vent and it works great. I do notice some buffeting when wearing a full face helmet, but with an open face 3/4 helmet it's great!

Look at the flip side. It forces you to keep things simple. Sometimes I would like to be able to have tons of options, but the simplicity is refreshing. Just gt on ride and enjoy the scenery.

It was 147 bhp,an absolute peach of an engine. It also had lower bars and the footpegs were set higher and further back.
I was rode one about 10 years ago and loved it.

Angry I must agree with your point about accessories.

Having just bought myself a 2001 1200 I assumed there would be loads of little extra bits but like you I've found nothing.
However I really would like to get hold of stainless or chrome rad and oil cooler guards. Anyone got any ideas.
