Has anyone come up with a novel idea's of covering the painted section of the panniers to stop scratching etc ?.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of plastic film / coating available.
Just after I bought my Trophy I managed to eject my right pannier on the way to work and it picked up some nasty chips and scratches and despite my best attempts at touching in with the paint stick it still looks messy . Jill and I rode out to the coast last Sunday and when we arrived I noticed that I'd got a scratch on my left pannier lid too ..... the wife says it must have been me

I had the lower parts of my Trophy's done with a clear "chip guard" type of coating. I don't know if the body shops in England use this type of paint. It gives a textured surface that is flexible and tough, although I'm not sure if the touch-up you did will show through, however, it should disguise it quite a bit. Check with a good auto-body refinisher before you do it (or have it done professionally).

Good Luck: Jim

Thanks for your help James, I'm not sure if we do a chip guard over here but as you mentioned it may well look a bit rough anyway. I may try and source some kind of reflective sticker / patch to cover the top section and hopefuly prevent further damage.

Good luck..I've used a sticker or decal or two in my time, as well. Just pick out something interesting or at least something that'll keep everybody wondering.

Ride Safe: Jim
