1991 Trophy 1200

I have the opportunity of acquiring, for small money a 1991 1200 Trophy. It is, I am told, an early full power version, engine number 300-ish. The bike has been well maintained and has one previous owner and has around 70k miles on it. Complete with luggage too.

I have been warned by someone who may or may not know what he is talking about that spares for these early Trophy models are just about impossible to get. I thought these bikes were modular and that, as such there would be some parts commanility across the range. I have previously had a 1995 Trident 900 and had no parts issues (not that it needed much).

Can someone advise me before I commit to this bike. It would be a second bike for me and as far as I am aware it runs sweetly and has no current issues.

Cheers.

Ive just bought a 1991 Trophy 900 and have had no trouble finding the little parts i needed, some still avaliable fron Triumph themselves. There are a lot of interchangable parts anyway and ebay is full of bits from Trophy's, and Daytona's which will fit. It does all depend on what it needs if anything and how much you pay in the first place. Give triumph a call and ask for some information on your bike they were very helpful last week when I rang and gave me the prduction data (July 16th 1991) and the dealer that my bike went to. Id be interested to know how early the one you are thinkning of is.

Not sure the exact date of manufacture but the guy I am buying it from has had it since he bought it new, in 1991. The bike is currently locked in a garage and the guy with the key is away. This is a bit frustrating, since I am keen to get hold of it. The last time I saw it it was in OK condition with just what you would expect on it after 70000 miles of use.
When I get it I will post up some pictures and info. I enjoy a bit of restoration work and it will be a good little project.
