just joined the club!
Hi. Just took delivery on a 1998 900 Trophy last week! I ride a 06 Daytona 675 and love it to death, but I needed something for 2up touring so I went with the Trophy. So far I'm very happy with the bike and I'll know more this weekend after a 700 mi round trip. My only concern is the bike wants to drift at @ 80mph and up on the highway..Is this normal with that massive windshield? I noticed that Clearview makes a sport screen and I'll most likely be getting that. Anyway, just an intro and and hello.

Clearview makes some nice screens,I went with a 2" taller version with the PRV vents, nice but very hot in the summer. And mine drifts around a bit also.

I kind of like my bike drifting around instead of just tracking in a straight line. Makes me think of a Harley. They all seem to ride in a straight upright position. Can't wait to get up to NC in Oct to do a few twisties. In our part of the country we talk about 11 curves in 318 miles.

Welcome to the trophy world. I have had mine for a year and a half. It catches the wind like a sail. But it is still a lot of fun. I have gone to a Thunderbird. I must be getting old, I like the upright position and it catches much less sidewind. I ride it with confidence in very windy conditions that I would not even try on the trophy. My trophy is for sale.

big screen
The screen is great if you want weather protection, rode through a 10 minute shower last week and didn't bother to stop to don waterproofs. However....... I've added a Laminar Lip to reduce the turbulent flow I was getting at eye level (taller than the last owner) and it's a great improvement but still needs a bit of tweaking. And yes it loves the wind, get used to it! With summer approaching here in sunny Adelaide (Sth Oz) I'm seriously considering a sports sized screen or even complete removal of the fairing - saw a great "Trodent" conversion in this forum some little while back - since summer temps get around the 40degC mark and I definitely need the airflow.
enjoy,

Welcome appolo675
Yep, Got the "big" screen on mine right now. Kinda hot when the temps are in the mid 90's but it is very quiet when on the highway.
This bike came with 4 different screens so I'll experiment with them depending on the weather. The wife insist on using an open face helmet (claustrophobic) so the barn door screen will work for now. I have noticed the drifting more now tho. Probably affects the mileage too.

I have been considering buying an America to add to my ragtag collection and what was the reasons for your decision to change to the mighty Trophy.
