My Trophy

I have not been active here for quite a while, many many things have been going on which I will not bore you with. But one of them has been a little modification of my 1995 Trophy 1200. Hopefully the pictures will post. Anyway, here goes the before and after picts (caution if you are a purist, it don't look like a Trophy no more).

Well, it's different to say the least! :-)
Mind you, that helmet is a head turner!

hey, nice picture! Thats what I am in the process of doing to my 2000! which guages did you use? My cycle shop had been calling around trying to find me a set of Trident guages and headlight and such. How did you go about mounting them? I know Triumph has a modular approach, using the same frame for different bikes, was there any issues?

For my headlight mount, I was just going to fab something up out of aluminum sheet. what did you use?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but learning from experience is the best, and you have the experience that can help me out!

Thanks, Josh

Cardiffman: that's why my friends call me evil elmo. Different is what I like, looking like everything else is not. Though it's not designed to stand out and scream at people. Just please me.

Joshdvirnak: guages are stock 1995 Trophy guages. Headlight ears are standard issue Emgo cheapo units in every catalog in every bike shop in America. Headlight shell also standard Emgo. I had to fab an extension bracket out of flat aluminum to the end of it and mounted the front signals where the extension hits the emgo bracket. I then bolted on a set of Harris clip-ons. Cheapo black mirror in the stock brake res. mount and it was done. Only issue was a few pinched wires / cables to sort out from stuffing everything behind the nacelle. Pretty easy actually. The tank is stock, with Pingel mod, and a gas cap aftermarket unit designed for Yamaha bikes - fit right on perfect.

Cool, thanks for the info. I am not sure what the guages look like on a 95 trophy, but on my 2000 they look about twice as wide as yours (fuel guage and clock on either side of the speedo and tach) Also, the back isnt enclosed, with the backs of the guages and wires sticking out, so it doesnt look very good that way.

Could you describe your instrument panel? what guages does it have? maybe I could find a earlier trophy cluster that would work, who knows?

Thanks again. Josh
